I love beta-reading, helping an author who is willing to seek advice and assistance in producing a better piece of writing. In my day job, I offer a beta reading service for a small charge, but am happy to help out fellow fanfiction writers with small pieces or ongoing projects.

I would expect anyone requesting my services as a beta reader to be looking for honest feedback to improve their writing. I'm not a fluffy "love it" sort of person!

I'm good at spelling (English rather than American though), punctuation and grammar. I also work with plot/continuity aspects. I'm hot on character consistency and fitting in with canon. I'm also interested in all aspects of good writing, from plot to characterization and setting.

In my day job, I'm a professional editor/proofreader, and I'm working on a novel or three in my spare time.

Being British, I can't check up on Americanisms. I'd say that was probably my greatest weakness. Also tight for time these days, although willing to make time if I can for a suitable story/writer.

I prefer gen stories, particularly those that work like the canon, but with more characterization.

I'm not desperately interested in really fluffy stuff, and even less interested in heavy/slash type stuff.
