My beta-style consists of printing out everything I get and bloodying it with a red pen. Well, that's not exactly accurate, in truth, I use about 5 different colored pens according to the area I happen to be looking at. I'm a Creative Writing mjor so I tend to be really nitpicky about things like cliches, plausibility issues, continuity errors and things like that. I make comments on things that I don't think work quite well or things that I like. If I know the fandom I'm beta'ing, I am a stickler for Out of Character things. I'm pretty strict about style and content but not so much about things like spelling and grammer. If I see something that is obviously bad grammer or if a word doesn't look right or is out of place I will comment on it but in my own work it's not something I worry about. The expectations that people should have about my beta'ing: Your work will be ripped apart usually. Even the best fics I've read I will go through and mark every last word phrase or paragraph for something. I have suggestions about everything,and I won't spare the feelings of the writer when I go through it. I treat it like I've been trained to do in school, as a critic, not a friend to the author who's trying to coddle them. That doesn't mean I'm not willing to be friendly with anyone I beta, but

I am very good at identifying themes and undertones in both reading and when I'm writing. I see symbolism in everything so even something unintentional may catch my eye and I'll ask that it's explored. As I said above, style and content are my main areas of expertise and I'm sometimes ruthless when it comes to fandoms that I participate or read in.

My weaknesses are, essentially, grammer and spelling. by grammer I mean the punctuation part of it, mainly. I have a habit of run-on sentances and and misplaced commas. My spelling is improving, granted, all thanks to the wonderful spiders of the interweb. It's not that I have a habit of misspelling things, it's that I have a habit of not noticing typos until people point them out, sometimes when I proofread my own work.

I really don't have any preferrences. I like Yaoi (m/m) and Yuri (f/f) more than het so I always prefer those but I don't have a single problem with het in general. I love reading humorous peices, sometimes the more rediculous the better. Those are really the only area which I would tolerate any flagrant OOC violations. I like romance, drama and angst mostly.Catagory: Any, mostly anime/manga, Language: English and I might be able to get away with Italian. Rating: Any, especially M, and like I said, Genres: Romance, General, Sci-fi, Drama, Angst, Humor, Fantasy, AU, and others I can't think of

I don't like depressing fics. I truly don't, which leaves death-fics and unrequieted romance fics out. I have no problem if the story takes 200 hundred or so chapters to get a happy or bittersweet ending but depressing fics just leave me depressed in the end and I could do without them. I will absolutley not tolerate self-insert fics. Absolutely not. Any fic where the main character is an OC is likely a violation of that so, not to be rude, but don't bother. I won't read it and will trash the genre as a whole.
