I like to focus on a writer's potential more than their faults, but this doesn't mean I'm a pushover. If I think an author can improve I want to help them reach the highest level they can, and I'm willing to help in whatever way possible. If a decent reason is presented in response to a criticism I make, I'll back down, but every piece of a story should have some sort of reason to be there -- if you can't justify what you've written, it shouldn't be there. I'm rather strong minded, but I'm not cruel, so while I sound harsh, don't think I'll be yelling at you or acting rudely. The goal is to create the best piece of work you can, and my personal goal is to help guide you to do so.

I'm an English Literature major in the final years college, so I have a wide range of experience in pretty much any area of writing. Grammar/spelling, and the basics are obviously a no-brainer for me. I tend to focus on the roots of a story more -- the style and substance. Substance like, if a character is doing something that doesn't make sense, I'll ask your line of reasoning behind it, and try and help you to expose that in how you've written the scene. Much of how I edit is based around the author's goal in telling it -- if you aren't saying what you mean in an effective way, I try to help you say it clearer. Bad writing I honestly don't mind so long as the author is willing to work with me in depth to fix what needs fixing, and doesn't take too much offense when I have lots to say or questions to ask.

I tend to think in a weirder way, so the way I word things that may be clear to myself may not seem clear to others. This will come as more of a problem when I'm explaining things rather than when I'm helping you edit your piece. It's developing things from scratch that always seem to come out a bit strange -- when editing things that exist already, I'm mostly fine.

Also, I have a rather distinctive style of my own that is a bit on the plainer side -- I tend to despise things that are overly flowery. I also don't deal well with people who ask for "help" and actually only want to be told their work is amazing. Ego has no place in the pursuit of improving one's skills, and that includes me (I have a personal friend read over everything I write -- he's such a nitpicker, too. But it really helps to go deep into it like that. ^.^;;).

I love me a yuri story, but I won't turn down a straight one if it's decent. I pride myself in the ability to write a damn good lemon/rated M fic, so I have no issue helping editing those, and the total other end of the spectrum fluff is definitely fun times. Drama is ok, so long as it's not too heavy, as are comedy and most other genres. I don't mind OOC fics if it's not serious, but there's exceptions to that on occasion (see below).

I got over reading excessively angsty fics after high school. No yaoi, please, and no Mary-Sues or AU adventure fics. Character bashing fics, and stuff that's blatantly racist, sexist, or homophobic are also a no. Fic is for fun, not hate. -_-lll
