Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have been editing and beta-ing stories online and for writers at my school for nearly four years now, so I do know how to go about it. Any experience is awesome for me. I look for things that don't make sense, misspelled words and if I know the show then I will defiantly make sure the characters are in-character. I'm not afraid to give opinions on how I think the story would be better. Basically, i'd love it it you asked my opinion! My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Catching spelling errors, run on sentences, parts that don't make any sense, things like that. I am good at finding dialog that doesn't make sense for the characters as well. I will do everything I possibly can to help! I won't say I'm perfect at everything, but I am very competent. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not sure, I defiantly don't think I'm the universes gift to the editing world, but I know what I'm doing. I stress the fact that I do what I'm doing.I suppose I have some issues with editing very formal, essay-like pieces. I doubt I'll get any requests to beta someone's school work, but just so you know, I'm lousy at that. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I love Sherlock, Doctor Who, Supernatural, NCIS, Bones, Warehouse 13, Eureka, The Inheritance Cycle and Pirates of the Caribbean, Tron, Sherlock Holmes, The Mummy, Assassin's Creed, Skyrim, Avengers, and a ton of other things.I will beta anything, even ones rated M. I'm big into Tumblr, trust me. I've seen it all. And if I haven't…. well, surprise me, then. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I don't like anything badly written and characters either not being realistic or just OOC. I don't actually care, really, I accept almost everything. I trust that if you ask me to Beta you'll have at least an okay story. But really, just ask me, I won't be rude if I don't want to beta it, the worst I can do is say 'No thanks.' And me saying no would be rare.Just ask! Really! Don't let yourself go beta-less just because you think I (Or anyone else) will judge your or your story. I won't! |
