I can work relatively quickly, however I will only do a full, fast-paced editing session when the author is present (unless they already fully understand what they're letting themselves in for). With that in mind I prefer to work through Google Drive so the author and me can both see the changes being made as they are made, and so any necessary discussion about the piece can occur without having to wait around hours for replies. Anyone is free to ask me to beta-read something for them – there are very few types of fics I would refuse – but it's really an appointment thing.

Dialogue, sentence structure, Brit-picking (I'm a bit of an Anglophile, I suppose...just it's less 'love for' and more 'resigned to knowing about'), and the overarching plot – the details, basically. I'm a style beta, really – I'm horrifically invasive, so really only ask me if you're looking for a bit of an overhaul... Unless you only want a test audience, in which case I'm game.

Commas. Don't know what to do with the little blighters. Also, I've got to reiterate I have a habit of being invasive.

I prefer something with some kind of tension, be it romantic, dramatic or comedic; which isn't to say I won't beta something more straightforward (for want of a better term), but I like to work on things that have a nice solid plot.

Um... Short one-shots with no fully defined plot. They're not long enough for me to get a feel for, so my editing abilities are severely compromised. Also, as far as I'm concerned past season 5, Supernatural doesn't exist...and nor does Doctor Who past season 7, so nothing that heavily involves those (references are fine, if it's the main bulk of the fic though I'd rather give it a miss), if you will.
