Hello! I'm Hyaroo, but you can call me "Roo" if you like. I'm a writer, an artist, and a bit of a fantasy-and-animation geek who's been dabbling in both fanfic and original stories roughly since the turn of the millennium. I'm pretty open for most types and styles of fanfics (except blatant romance and/or angst), but be warned that I'm nitpicky. As a beta-reader, I have pretty high standards and if I think a story, a plot line or a characterization doesn't work, I'll say so - but I'll always try to be constructive about it. My goal will be to make your story the best story it can be!

Though English isn't actually my native language, I still have a very good grasp on English spelling, grammar, punctuation and flow. I'm good with tone and style; probably my biggest strength is dialogue — making it sound natural and express the personalities of the individual characters (and if possible have every single character get in at least one witty, awesome or otherwise memorable spoken line, at least once in the story). I also have a knack for nitpicky details, which makes me good with thought-out AUs and alternate societies.

I'm TERRIBLE at romance. I can write friendship or family themes just fine, but when it gets to the romantic I often can't keep up. Either I lose interest, or I force myself through it and end up with something awkward, unconvincing or plain badly-written. I also tend to ramble a bit. All right, a lot. And sometimes I'm not as quick to write as I should be.

I love a good adventure, a mystery story, a fantasy, a character study. A crossover where both franchises get to shine. A well-thought-out AU. A story where a familiar character finds him/herself in unfamiliar circumstances and has to figure out how to cope. Also... I have a certain fondness for stories staring the secondary or minor characters from the franchise. I'm usually a lot more interested in the side characters than in the big hero, villain or love interest; the characters I tent to want to see more of are such people as the "sidekick," the "little guy," the "loner," the "weirdo"... the character actor if you will. Hence, I'll almost always be more interested in a fic starring, say, Ron Weasley or Luna Lovegood, than one starring Harry Potter.

Any and all kind of character-bashing or author-bashing. Stories where the protagonist is super-powerful and breezes through everything, and I'm supposed to think that's awesome (remember Pixar's first law of storytelling: "You admire a character far more for trying than for succeeding"). Stories that are just blatant wish-fulfilment, where there's no conflict or where the conflict's too one sided. Stories where romance are the main point (especially if it's "forbidden romance"). Oh, and blatant OOCisms, implausible romance, and... crackfic. Seriously, I've yet to read a crackfic that was one-tenth as hilarious as it thought it was.
