I am very particular in the way I edit. Grammar and other technical details are the first port of call because they are what make your story look polished. Of course, I would ask that you have done some basic editing yourself as I am not a spellcheck program. Next I like to look at the plot itself. Does it make sense and does it 'flow'? Next up is character. I only Beta in fandoms that I have written in myself so you can be sure that I am familiar with the content, and no OOCness will escape! Last but not least is the story. Does everything fit together, and does it just seem finished? If you have any requests in particular I am very accommodating. br /br /

A quick note on my personal style. I try to be as supportive as I am critical, but I know I can read as negative sometimes. If I happen to do this, it is nothing personal! I am simply trying to help you make your story the best it can possibly be.

Grammar and Spelling br /

Flow - Run-on sentences, paragraphs that are too long, awkward phrasing, things like that. All this can really affect (not effect) how your story is read. I keep an eye out for these things, and give suggestions whenever I can. I'll also try and help you work on your pace, and fix where things might need to speed up or slow down. Sometimes you need to be concise, and sometimes purple prose isn't such a bad thing after all. br /

Realism - How did that happen? moments drive me up the wall. I'll help you look out for them, and add details wherever they are needed to make things clearer. I'll also include emotion here, because how a character reacts can dictate whether or not someone becomes invested in the story. br /

Vocabulary - Let's switch things up a bit! br /

A little extra on the side - I have pretty high level first aid, so I'm handy if you're looking to clarify something medical. I'm also a pretty thorough researcher, so if you're unsure of a detail I can look into it, or point you in the right direction.

Romance - I'm hopeless, and not in the good sense. I have no problem reading it, I just can't write it. So if you need help making something more sensual or romantic I'm not the one you are looking for. br /

Writer's Block- Having done quite a bit of academic writing, I have issues providing other people with ideas. If you're stuck somewhere, I'll try my best to guide you out of a rut, and I'll give you all the encouragement I can, but I can't provide plot.

Generally, I don't have a preference when it comes to the length of the work. I'll do everything from drabbles to epics, the length will simply affect the time I take to edit it. I'll go for any genre, particularly angst, hurt/comfort, tragedy, and horror. It's not that I'm a depressing person, just that I just know quite a few Beta-readers shy away from the horror/tragedy side of things. I'm just as open to fluff and humour! Also, I'm more than willing to look at poetry. br /

Romance- I will Beta romance stories, but only if they have a proper plot-line. I like to see something outside of the romance, and I most certainly will not beta for sexually explicit fics. br /

OCs - This is more for your own safety. You can give me a story with an OC in it, but be prepared for them to get ripped apart if they have any significance to the plot. I won't do main character/OC pairings, and I won't do stories where some girl is sucked into the fandom (Narnia I'm looking straight at you!).
