Hello! I'm very excited about this beta reading option. I think it’s a great way for authors to clean up the rough edges of their stories, and in turn, make this site less of a garbage heap. I am pretty particular when it comes to basic grammar and spelling. I watch out for character development and overall plot development as well. I can be rather strict in these areas, but I don't think I am particularly harsh. It's important to keep your voice in the work anyway, and I keep that in mind when I edit. I do not tolerate chat-speak in fan fiction, or anywhere really. If you're writing on this site, I believe basic grammar rules and spelling are to be respected. I expect to read the final draft of your work as well. Don't send me something you haven't looked over yourself. I don't intend to start editing your story from scratch.

I am quite well versed in basic grammar, and if I can't spell it, I have a fully functioning word processor! I have a good eye for character development, and I can help here to make sure your characters stay true to their original design, if it is in a fandom I'm familiar with.

I probably wouldn't be much help in the plot development of your story. You should have a pretty good idea of that anyway.

I enjoy Hurt/Help fics, as long as the hurt portion of it isn't too disturbing. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to a lot of themes. I do have my favorite pairings, but that hasn't gotten in the way of my editing.

I'm pretty open in the types of stories I will beta for. I have preferences, but I can stay neutral to my own bias when editing. For what it's worth, don't really care for sci-fi, horror or fantasy stories. I can edit them for grammar and the like, but it's not my strong suit. Magic tends to get messy (so many rules!) I draw the line at those “sugar high” fics though. I don’t find randomness in fanfiction particularly amusing, and as the genre implies, they don't take any real consideration or thought, so I don't enjoy reading those. I'm also not the biggest fan of OCs, but I can help with identifying and eliminating Mary Sue-like qualities.
