John Bates tried to see the best in people, but seeing the best in Thomas Barrow was more of a challenge than he felt obliged to accept. Then again, there was something about Thomas. (This story provides crucial Downton Abbey details that Julian Fellowes chose to omit.) Hope to publish chapter 115 by August 2, 2020 (sorry, Evelyn Weidig).
