Every now and then I get on a whim to update this thing, so apparently that's happening...eh...now.

So far, my return post-hiatus has been remarkably smooth and fun. I really appreciate the warm reception from new and old readers alike, and it's really been great to be a part of this website again. So many thanks are due. Thank you. :)

Biographical huffing and puffing:

General -

I'm a female college graduate who apparently loves self-torture since I'm still in it getting a couple of higher degrees. I'm not sure if this is a reflection of my love of learning, or refusal to get a real, big-person job, but either way I'm poor, grumpy all the time, and loving my life, hah! Writing has always been a hobby of mine, and I've been doing it since I could hold my gel pens back in middle school. Somewhere over the years, I developed somewhat of a knack for it, and after practicing and posting here, I've had the opportunity to grow a lot as a writer. For free. ;)

Writing/Reading -

My writing style is usually nested in exaggerated character perspectives written in third person, but I've been experimenting with a looser style with my latest child, The Consequences of Resilience, and we'll see where that takes future works.

What you can typically expect from me in terms of writing are AU story-lines. With AU story-lines I enjoy the amount of flexibility that exists with plot development, especially since in my humble opinion, the plot-lines done within the fandom I write for have been horribly overdone (Kingdom Hearts). Maybe that's some of my sour grapes coming through since I haven't had the time/energy/money to purchase the games past the first three. I'm having to skip over a lot of fanfics anyway because I haven't had the chance to play the game with some of the characters, but I really do prefer the creativity that comes with AUs. I don't; however, invest a lot of time and energy in OC's. I'll invent parental figures and whatnot every now and then, but for the most part, I write fanfiction for the characters. I enjoy the challenge that comes from writing the fandom's characters in alternate realities, and I haven't found a reason yet to write a significant OC that any character in the fandom can't be used for.

Hurt/comfort is my genre of choice, because hey, I love a good sob fest with a happy ending. I do admittedly get a little annoyed with constant drama and up-down emotions, so I usually can't keep myself from adding in a sprinkling of humor here and there to keep myself awake. I can't help it. I have no self control.

As far as writing goes, I generally stick to the Kingdom Hearts fandom, but I've dabbled in Final Fantasy, and have a couple other writing projects in other fandoms, too. I read anything that suits my fancy, both inside and outside of these fandoms, and since there's no rhyme or reason to why I click on a story other than that it sounds like it might be interesting, it's very hard to list my preferences. In general, I appreciate well-composed stories that display decent spelling and grammar, authors who know where their own stories are going, and a spark of something special that gives the story originality.

Reviewing -

In general, I review if a story strikes me in a particular way - good or bad. If I'm met with pure apathy and have to struggle to come up with something to say, then it really becomes too much of a chore to review and isn't helpful for me or the author. That being said, I have no problem speaking my mind, so I will praise where I like something, and point out areas I think could use improvement. This includes calling people out if they break the Terms and Conditions/guidelines of the website. I'm also open to (and have taken) review requests (that is, requests of authors for their OWN stories), so if you've written something, I have no problem meandering over and looking at it. If you're excited about it, I'm excited to read it.

For me, receiving reviews is lovely, and in some cases, getting them is more impactful for me than “Favorites,” since often people just use that section for bookmarking and reminders to look at stories later.

As I explained for my own review philosophy, offering a review means that my work struck you in a particular way – good or bad. In-depth reviews are wonderful, but “lol your story rox my socks!” reviews are also meaningful to me. I really can’t complain if you took time out of your story-skimming to find, read, and offer commentary to my work out of the hundreds of thousands of pieces out here.

Other things -

I’m a generally friendly person and enjoy conversing, so don’t let the sarcasm dripping from this bio scare you away. Really, I’ve been here for nearly ten years (...that hurt to say...10...wow...) lurking and reading, so if there’s anything I can be helpful with, I’m more than happy to eh…be helpful. I’m certainly not the guru of fanfiction, but I’ll offer help if and when it’s needed. I’m very receptive to PMs.
