Author has written 7 stories for Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Hunchback of Notre Dame, StarTrek: Deep Space Nine, Doctor Who, and Avatar: Last Airbender. I like writing about the odd ones that don't get much attention. I always root for underdogs and character parts, which require the best and usually least recognized of actors. (Brendan Gleeson, Jeffrey Combs, Tim Roth, John Rhys-Davis, Andrew J Robinson, Robert Picardo, John Delancie, etc.) I find my style is influenced by more archaic language; I watch a lot of Shakespeare and Jane Austen adaptations and I used to read LotR pretty often. Something about that style of language is very comfortable for me. Also I tend to write racy stories. I can't help it. Sexuality often ends up being a centerpiece or the basis of my stories, though none of them are ever purely about sex/romance. I like adding political, historical and intellectual elements as I can't stand a story without substance. My favorite reading is historical fiction and non-fiction, some science fiction, and horror (as long as there's something edgy and off-beat about it), and nonfiction in science, anthropology, and gender/sexuality studies. I love languages and epistemology as well as sex culture in contemporary and historical societies. Currently I'm reading "Sin in the Second City: Madames, Ministers, Playboys and the Battle for America's Soul" (what a title!), all about Chicago's vice district and the two powerful Madames who ran the infamous, yet refined and rich, brothel the "Everleigh Club". Worth every word on its pages. I also love Renaissance era history and make an especial effort to familiarize myself with the powerful women of that time from Elizabeth I to King Kristina and Catherine de Medici. In a time of female suppression, this time has a surprising number of female rulers. |
