Ben Solo, prince of Alderaan, is to be engaged to Senator Palpatine's granddaughter, Rey. Her presence awakens something in him, along with feelings and truths neither of them would have suspected.

Be careful what you wish for: the day after his thirty-third birthday, Ben wakes up and finds he's not in his own bed, in a body that's definitely not his either.

"I heard them," he says one night. "I heard my family." They haven't spoken a lot in the last few days- mostly held on to each other, soothed each other back to sleep whenever nightmares occurred and murmured each other's name for reassurance. The perks of having a force bond. "I heard them, too."

After his grandmother's death, Ben discovers he inherited her house. First problem: he isn't the only one. Second problem: his new housemate is an Omega.

"I don't dance," Ben mumbles. It's the second time Rey asks tonight, and the second time he refuses. She doesn't mind, though: she's too happy to let it offend her. She's exhausted, too, but is glad to be; glad to even feel anything. They won the war a few hours ago, and tiredness has never felt so good.

"Game over," the voice whispered in her ear. The first time Rey goes laser tagging with her friends, she nearly beats the highest score until a mysterious dark figure stops her.

"Her eyes are still wet and puffy when she hears the familiar whistle announcing his arrival. An unmistakable, unique sound she'd hated at first, then longed for, until finally learning to dread it. But tonight, it only brings her comfort."
