![]() Author has written 11 stories for Newsies. Name: Love97 (obviously) LoveLately (a.k.a what the hell I'm up to these days): 6/21/11: Omg. It's been a year since I've updated my profile and almost 2 years since I've updated my stories. A lot has changed in my life but I don't like the way I've abandoned Addiction: The Sequel. I wrote myself into a corner and stayed there for a long, long time. I'm going to try and look at it again with a fresh perspective, the keyword being 'try'. I hadn't logged on to the email account where my FF alerts go and when I logged in I had a couple hundred reviews, alerts, updates...CRAZY! I'll see what I can do. 6/21/11: This was a quick turnaround from my last edit. I was a little overwhelmed having read through A:TS but I knew that I wanted to write again, so I dug through my doc files on my computer and found a list of possible story ideas for future fics. I grimaced at most of them (these ideas were SO old lol) but I found one that I'm going to turn into my little project. It won't be long - maybe 10 chapters - because I'd like to ease into fics again. It's strange, though, because it takes on some of the themes/ideas of two of my previous fics: To Have and To Hold and Addiction. Think of it as a hybrid of these themes. I promise the writing will be better because being in school has helped me find my creative voice. So...expect within hopefully the next week to find SUNSHINE WHEN SHE'S GONE up and running. Ahh I'm excited!! About my writing: It's fairly obvious the progressions I've made in my writing from my very first -- A Hateful Vengeance -- to my current piece -- Addiction: The Sequel. As per usual, I can hardly stand to look at anything that I've written that isnt less than six months old. AHV was my little engine that could, haha. I was terrified of posting and I received so few reviews but I didnt care because someone had actually ventured onto this site, chosen AHV, and took the time out to review it! I won't go near that story now -- we all had to start somewhere though, right? I don't know if it's because I've had time to digest all of my stories for some time now, but the only one I can look at is Addiction. Partly because I'm writing its sequel so I'm using it as reference, and partly because anything before that just doesnt seem to match up. It's quite different from my previous stories -- AHV, A Flower in Brooklyn, Manhattan Home and To Have and To Hold are all about putting Spot into this magnificent and noble light. Cut to Addiction, and you won't to smack him across the face and then make out with him haha or at least that's what I was going for. Where am I going with this? I don't know, it's starting to feel like a blog entry right now lol the point is, if you want to read my better-quality work, I would recommend To Have and To Hold, Addiction, Addiction: The Sequel, and the lone chapter I wrote for Skittery in Where The Light Is. The amount of reviews speak for themselves, and I would gather that anyone in their right mind would read those, as opposed to some earlier stuff. But, alas, I will always have an entirely different perspective as the author and not the reader. About my work: What you'll almost always see in my stories: night owls; Tibby's or Brooklyn's equivalent: Sonny's; girls who talk back; girls are never angelic and pure (except for Sarah but she's canon); my adoration for Jack Kelly; lots of cigarettes; tormenting dreams; symbolic weather (the easiest symbol an author can use!); sexually active newsies; my fondness for Blink and Racetrack; the Brooklyn Bridge; running (all Tom Cruise-like before he went nuts); emotional writing; drinking; at least one poker game; train stations; did I mention Spot? It's all about Spot haha What you won't see: slash; time travel; AU; happy-go-lucky characters; heroes/heroines with strong moral fortitude; spirituality; purity; Mary Sues (hopefully); zero territory conflict; abstinence; crossovers; typical jobs of the time like working in a factory (I don't know, I just can't put my characters there haha) The Playlists: I draw heavily on the way I react to music for writing. Sometimes it only takes one song to spark a story idea or chapter. I have playlists saved on my computer that I listen to while I write chapters and I started compiling everything together like this when I was writing To Have and To Hold, and it's carried over to Addiction. Some make perfect sense, others I have taken out of context but have used because of certain verses. You decide =) To Have and To Hold 1. "I Want to Hold Your Hand" by The Beatles 2.
