Steve seemed defeated and tired, but he didn't say anything, and Danny had let it go. Tonight he decided that not anymore. Trembling, he got up from the bed and took the stick that rested next to the headboard. Carefully and quietly, Danny began to climb the stairs, step by step, as if measuring his own strength and afraid that it wasn't enough to reach the top floor.

This started out as a one shot to correct the series finale (at least in my mind). Because of a lot of nice comments, it has continued to grow. Hope you continue to enjoy it. Seven chapters completes the story. Thanks for reading!

Missing scenes from the finale including Grace and Rachel, Danny has a set back at the hospital, and an alternate ending where Steve comes to a realization, and a plan for the future, that doesn't involve leaving his best friend behind.

Another fix it attempt for the finale. It's not finished, I'm not even sure where it's going. I still hate the finale. I'm still trying to make it right. So here is my brain trying to work it out.

It should've been a simple task, taking Grace to choose Danno's birthday present, right? Wrong. Nothing is ever simple in the life of Steve McGarrett. He just hopes Danny can forgive him for this one, because he's not sure he can ever forgive himself...

A birthday fic request for Cubit and for Auntof3 - some fluffy birthday wishes. After a horrific week at work and running on fumes, Danny is in a cranky, bad mood.
