Author has written 10 stories for Fruits Basket. Greetings. I have three blood daughters, Rebel, AJ, and Yuki-chan. I also have six, what I would call, Otaku sons and daughters. Shigurekun, Mardokkun, Ayachan, Reichan, Kohaku and Kyo-chan. As you might guess from the above, yuki-chan is the one who hooked me on anime about three years ago. In the last year or so, we've really started to have an interest in manga as well. My first venture into the world of anime was Fushigi Yuugi and even today I have a special place in my heart for it. After that, it was Slayers, Rurouni Kenshin, and assorted others. I was hooked. I've been playing around with the idea for doing fanfiction for a while and finally decided to give it a whirl. My first story will be quite short. Just 4 chapters and a short epilogue. Hopefully people will like it. I have ideas for others but they are still in the planning stages. What else about me, I live in Arizona, have a full time job, and also love fantasy novels and Tom Clancy's books. Since I first discovered fanfiction.net I have become a grandmother twice over. My two grandchildren Kaylee and Jarod will be two and one in August (2007). Isn't it amazing how quickly life happens. 7/16/2008 My e-mail inbox seems awfully empty now that I'm not actively posting that much anymore. I 've added a poem or two to Furuba verses and a short fanfic entitled "Kiss Her Once For Me" was added back in January. I've noticed the short stories don't get as much attention as my longer ones. That's okay though. I mostly write for me I think. I am currently working on a YukiRu fic to follow up on "Legacy of the Red Butterfly" I've been meaning to do this for a couple or three years now...it seems to be going alright, but I'm not ready to start posting it yet. 7/24/2008 It's funny but I was just looking at the dates of my fanfics and my 10th fanfic is being posted almost four years to the day of my very 1st one. July must be a good month for creativity. I look back at my fanfics and laugh at some of my suppositions. When I first started writing, I never dreamed Akito might not be male. Some of the history I've created for my stories isn't that far off the mark and some of it misses by a mile. It's been an interesting journey to the point in the manga where Fruits Basket is now. I will continue to look forward to the future issues although we all pretty much know how it ends. On another note, gotta wish Kaylee and Jarod Happy birthday numbers 3 and 2. Those are coming up in August. Children really do grow up fast, even when you see them every day. 8/6/2010 This seems to be the time of year I take a look at my fanfic pages. It's hard to believe it's been six years since my first exposure to Fruits Basket. My grandkids are now 5 and 4. I hope in a couple of years, they will be able to enjoy watching Fruits Basket with me. I haven't totally abandoned my ideas for fanfics for this anime, but life is busy and I seem to have problems finishing the stories I start. I guess it's a good thing I never started posting them. Fruits Basket is now complete and all the manga are released in the US. I thought the story had a good ending, but it's not quite the way I would have ended it, but then I'm not Takaya-san. Even at this point in time, Furuba is still one of my favorites. I discovered Saiunkoku Monogatari and I think it has taken over 1st place. However, plots are not easy for me, and I don't feel like I get as good a picture of the Saiunkoku personalities, as I got of the Fruits Basket characters. It might be because there is such a wide panopoly of characters in Saiunkoku, Fruits Basket didn't have quite as many extra people that played important parts in the anime and manga. 11/2/12 Yuki Seki finally started updating "When Spring Comes...Remember Me". This dovetails in with my "Legacy of the Red Butterfly" and I am working on the Yukiru I promised fans when I finished LRB many moons ago. I won't start posting until Yuki is done with her story though as the two need to tie in with each other. Just one of the pitfalls of collaborating on a plot. Favorite Anime 2. CardCaptor Sakura Favorite Manga 2. CardCaptor Sakura Other Favorites Favorite Female Characters: Tohru Honda(Fruits Basket) and Akane (Harukanaru Toki no Nakade) - They both have a positive outlook and do not give up easily. Both want those around them to be happy and tend to be happy themselves. I know this describes a lot of anime characters, but these two have impressed me the most. Favorite Seiyuu: Tomokazu Seki and Akira Ishida - When I watch anime, it has to be in Japanese and so of course I have developed a great affection for some of the voice actors. I love Tomokazu in almost any role, but Chichiri is my favorite and the Emperor in Saiunkoku Monogatari is my second favorite of his roles. What really amazes me is that not only can he voice act, he can sing. I love the music he has done for various anime and if it has Seki-san's name attached I will watch it at least once. Akira Ishida voices some of my other favorites. He can't sing that well, but boy do I love his voice. I especially like him as Xellos (Slayers), Yasuaki (Harukanaru Toki no Nakade), and Hakkai (Saiyuki). Other favorites are Okiayu Ryoutarou, Toshihiko Seki, Megumi Ogata, Shinichiro Miki, and Souichiro Hoshi. Random Comments 10/12/2007 I just looked at my stats for "Isle of Romance" I am flabbergasted...105 people have favorited it. That seems like a lot of people to me. Thank you to each and every one of you if you happen to see this post. 7/25/2007 I've cleaned some of my earlier entries out of this page. This is supposed to be a profile page, not a journal, but what the heck, the life and times of an 'Otaku Mom' is not that interesting, but I am glad that my stories have been.. 1/2/2007 Happy New Year! "Our Spring" is complete. I'm not sure if the alerts are working though because I haven't been receiving any in the last several days 10/3/06 I have one other fic idea...how can I transition my stories of Fruit Basket to reflect the manga a little more accurately. I came up with the idea of Akito being twins...one boy and one girl. I wonder if that would work. 7/24/04 (When the Cat Met Mom) 9/28/04 (Legacy of the Red Butterfly) 3/29/05 LRB is finally complete. The last two chapters and the epilogue have been posted. I am looking forward to moving on to new projects, but this one has been a labor of love and I hope it has retained it's quality throughout. 5/25/05 Wow! I can't believe it. "So Far Away" has now come to an end. I posted the final chapter and epilogue tonight. I really appreciate the warm reception it has been given. My next project is a cooperative effort with my daughter, Yuki Seki. She started a fanfic some time ago called "When Spring Comes Remember Me..." It has been in hiatus for a while, but since it is one of the background stories for "Legacy of the Red Butterfly" I am going to help her finish it. I only hope I can do it justice. She is planning in only taking an advisory role for the remainder of her fic. I will do my best with it. Perhaps some of you will read it. After that, I think I may finally be able to write the Yukiru I am planning as a follow up to LRB. I know this won't matter to most people, but perhaps there are a few who will care. 7/6/06 IOR is complete and all chapters are posted. This story was along journey for me and for the characters. I started work on it in Sept 2005 and here it is July 2006...am I insane to spend almost 10 months on one story? Hopefully not.I just want to say thank you right now to all my friends who have read my story and enjoyed it. A couple of more things about me: Yahoo Messenger: hihosherio Live Journal: Otaku_Mom Yes I do have a journal, it is updated only sporadically but if I'm working on a new project it is usually mentioned there. |
