Author has written 42 stories for Teen Titans, Batman the Animated Series, Fire Emblem, Super Smash Brothers, Undertale, Darkest Dungeon, and Pokémon. I'd like to think my more recent stories are of passable quality. I've been trying to make original stories for a while, but no original stories I've made so far have been of even half-decent quality. World and plot are hard when you have to make them up rather than modify. Anything published before Blood and Bunnies I consider non reflective of my current skill level, but I keep the old stories up to see how far I've come. I'd love to have a lot more ongoing stories than I already do, but frankly I can't manage more than three. I'd love to make one for Undertale, Darkest Dungeon, Pokemon, Super Smash Bros, and also perhaps start making original stories (which couldn't be put here of course, probably Fictionpress, or maybe a blog). Stories currently being written: Five Stars, The Robin Variable, Varied Awakenings, Byleth: Peculiar Professor (sporadic), Byleth: Intimidating Instructor (sporadic), Observations on the Elite, Unusual, and Inhuman (sporadic). Stories in production: Unnamed FEA Self-Insert I've been thinking about what to do when I move on from my current batch of stories. The Robin Variable and Varied Awakenings have set end points now, which means in the next year I'll have finished two stories and be moving on to other things. I'm on the fence as to what those should be. My original plan for the end of The Robin Variable was to transition into Merely Shepherds, a standard re-telling of Awakening with the twist that all the Shepherds have quirks/powers of some sort. However, through my experiments with Varied Awakenings, I have the feeling that sort of story would flounder and die. There just doesn't seem to be any interest. The Robin Variable only worked because it was about Robin, the avatar character. So I'm left in an awkward spot. My original plan is looking less feasible by the day. I have a breakaway success in the form of Byleth: Peculiar Professor, but I can only push that story so far in its current format, and even now I'm having to slowly introduce other elements because I can't do a pure comedy like that forever. Thankfully, I do have a few other long-term ideas. I stumbled upon a fun little Self-Insert idea in Varied Awakenings that people seem to like, so I might be able to do that. I also came up with Observations on the Elite, Unusual, and Inhuman almost on the spot during a flash of inspiration and it's gone over well enough that I might be able to make something of it. So that's my dilemma. Do I abandon my plans for a reboot of Merely Shepherds in favor of these other stories? I don't care to make a story that won't get reviews (yes, reviews, not views. I care very little about views actually, it's why I consider Five Stars more successful than Varied Awakenings despite Varied Awakenings getting more traffic, I just like seeing people's enthusiasm). That's something I'll have to decide soon enough. Not not, but soon. |
