Kristoff frowned as the snow came down towards him. He didn't regret many things, he certainly did not regret saving the kid. But at the fraction of the second before he was buried, he did regret not saying that he was going to be running a little late to Anna. Perhaps Hans's cruelty was not real. Perhaps, when he said, I never loved you, it was a lie. If the trolls meant it literally when they said "Get rid of the fiancee," and Hans learns the real meaning of internal conflict. The heart is stubborn, but the mind is easily swayed.
