Author has written 3 stories for Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. 12/25/2016 @ 7:50 pm EST: Well, folks, it's been a long time...a very long time. I'm so sorry, guys. Truly, I am, but I've been incredibly busy for the last little while. I completed a Masters degree in Counseling and am currently preparing to start a position as a Vocational Rehabilitation Instructor, so my free time is in short supply and may continue to be so in the future. All I can say is that I will try my best to update whenever possible. There is a new chapter of ARLT up, in case you're interested (hint, hint...). You may also have noticed that I recently changed my nom-de-plume on here: I thought it was time for a change as I've honestly never been all that fond of the name "Wake" and really only used it because I couldn't be bothered to come up with anything different. So don't freak: It's still me with a more poetic pen-name. Cheers and Happy Holidays. Your lovable, huggable authoress, --Playing At Shadows, aka Wake You're a brave soul, my friend, if you've ventured here... Location: Presently, the Southeastern United States Hobbies and Interests: CERAMICS :); drawing, painting--anything dealing with the visual arts really; reading; writing; messing with my laptop; hanging with the crew; working out; and napping (I've only recently realized just how much of my time this particular activity takes up) Favorite Music: I have a rather ecclectic musical interest really. It varies, but for the most part it's classic and alternative rock. Classical and folk's cool, as is some country music. I also have a strange attraction to motion picture soundtracks--The Lord of the Rings, Kingdom of Heaven, The Last Samurai, and The House of Flying Daggers' scores are quite conductive to writing, I've found. Some of my favorite artists are: The Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox Twenty, The Beatles, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Dave Matthews, Gavin DeGraw, John Mayer, Ray LaMontagne, Florence the Machine, The Black Keys, Ellie Goulding, and many, many others. Favorite Books: Pretty much anything fantasy-related: Tolkien, in particular (The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings =), The Silmarillion); Harry Potter; The Chronicles of Narnia; A Song of Ice and Fire; The Hunger Games trilogy; The Legend of the Five Rings; The Dark Elf Trilogy; Memiors of a Geisha; and a plethora of others. Oh, and Shakespeare...you can't beat Shakespeare. Favorite TV Shows: The Blacklist; Bones; Dr. Who; Avatar: the Last Airbender; CSI: Miami and New york; NCIS...And I'm fascinated with cooking shows... Dislikes: Mathematics of any nature, shape, or form; people who are nice to you to your face and then talk about you like a dog behind your back; fanfics riddled with grammatical and/or spelling errors--granted those things somtimes occur, but when it's obvious that an author has blatantly disregarded the proof-reading process, then it's just irritating--and cold weather. Oh, and it drives me absolutely crazy when people use the incorrect forms of words (i.e. "their" for "there" and vise versa) or incorrect words in context such as with "amused" and "bemused." Really, people, "amused" implies that someone finds humor in something or that something is funny. "Bemused" is simply another word for "confused" or "bewildered." Big difference there. I discovered fanfiction many moons ago--I was in junior high school-and I've developed quite a fascination with it over the years. I started out with anime: The first fic I ever wrote was entitled "Walk Two Worlds" and was in the Dragonball Z fandom. I must say my tastes have changed dramatically since those days. I'm currently really into The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Inuyasha, and Harry Potter, but that is not to say I don't occasionally stray into other fandoms. Current Fics: A Road Less Traveled--a Lord of the Rings fiction (in progress). This thing is my baby. :) The Fine Line Between--a Harry Potter fiction featuring the Hermione/Snape pairing (in progress)--post DH and epilogue completely disregarded--*On Indefinite Hiatus* I would venture to say that anyone who attempts to keep up with my stories has likely already figured out that I am slow to update...very slow. I apologize in advance. "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio/Than are dreamt of in your philosophy." --Act I, Scene V from William Shakespeare's Hamlet |
