Full disclosure: I stopped watching the show after 3x05 because I knew that the writers would not give Mary the chance to properly mourn Francis before throwing her at another man...and I NEEDED to see her mourn because, quite frankly, *I* am still mourning. So here is my take on Mary's journey, from her POV, as she both holds on and learns to let go. (In progress)

"If I was meant to love her, then I was meant to choose her." A narration of 3x05 from Francis's point-of-view. One-shot.

A continuation of the conversation between Mary and Francis that occurs at the end of 3x03. When Mary reveals that she is considering a marriage to Don Carlos of Spain, she realizes that fears for the regency are not the only thing weighing on Francis's mind. One-shot.

Since it looks like the happy, carefree moments we've begged for are never going to happen, I suppose it's up to us to supply our own. I've always wanted to see Mary and Francis have a day - just ONE DAY - where they got to enjoy one another and be young and in love. So I'm giving them that. This takes place between 1x07 and 1x08, and I promise to try to go easy on the angst.

A narrative account of the conversation in which Francis tells Mary that he is dying. Some creative liberties were taken to make it, you know, MORE painful. Sorry. On the morning of her birthday, Mary awakens to find a letter from Francis upon the pillow beside her.

A young Francis and Mary steal away from the castle on a mid-summer night, seeking out the lights in the darkness.

This was intended to be a sequel to "The Girl," chronicling Francis's life from the point of Mary's departure up to her return. It's not finished, and I doubt it ever will be now that the fandom is in shambles, so I'm submitting it as is. (Note: The character of Alain Janvier was intended to be the blacksmith who taught Francis to make swords. I never got that far. Sorry.)

A series of moments between 1x07 and 1x08. You know, the happy times that we never got to see.

"You don't move on from a love like that. You can only hope to survive it." This started out as a couple of outtakes from my story "In Their End is Their Beginning." After the fireflies scene happened, I thought I might dust it off and try to make something of it.

7 Days of Frary Day 3: Favorite Angst Moment

As Mary anxiously awaits Francis's return, each day without him grows harder than the last.

To Francis, Mary was never 'just a girl'. She was THE girl, and by the time we first see him onscreen, he has already found and lost her once. This story follows him from the day he first sees the dark-haired girl who had crossed the sea to be his bride, to the day he awakens to suddenly find her gone, knowing that years would pass before-if ever-he sees her again.
