Suicide is becoming a growing problem to teenagers. Raging hormones, roller coaster emotions and what not. Many people try addressing the problem by saying "Cheer up, emo kid!" Guys, its not really all that funny and it doesn't help. I'm not going to go on a rant and say "Hey, don't do it! It's bad!" You do what you want. Family. I will never understand what is so great about family. I will never understand why we are obligated to love our family just because they are family. This isn't teenage angst, this is a real question I had been asking since I was young. But no one has been able to answer me and give me a good reason to love my family. And every time my parents found out that I had been talking to other people about them, I was punished. I learned a long time ago not to make my parents angry, so I have learned to be sneaky. Bullying. Everyone has heard of it, and everyone has been part of it at some point in their lives. Whether they be the bully, the victim, or the witness. Whether it be physical, verbal, or emotional. It's happening everywhere, everyday. Sometimes, we are witness or we are bullies without even noticing it. I'll admit that I used to bully people physically. I did it because it made me feel like I was stronger and better than my victims, when in reality, I was sinking myself lower and lower. I've stopped and took notice of what I've done, and now I want to stop it. Being nice isn't exactly my forte, but I can sure as hell try. I have been slowly been opening my eyes to the differences between sexes. Such as how men are taken more seriously than women, women are expected to back down from an argument or conflict, women are judged for liking sex while men are "just being men", etc. I take offense to this because I actually do see women back down from conflict with men and the endless judgement. I also was having conflicts on how I am considered manly and wished that I had the freedoms men will have -such as the ability to be out at night alone, and no matter how much I work out and speak out, I will always be seen as only a woman to others. I contemplated a sex-change for those very reasons, but I stopped and really thought of what it takes to be a man and to be a woman. And i realized that the only difference is the body. The personality of a person is not defined by gender, there are no characteristics that categorize a person as a male or female; the only defining force is the body parts. So instead of having the sex-change, I came to the decision to not allow my personality to be manly or womanly, but purely me. That is the only thing I can ever label myself and be happy with my life, despite what others may think.
