"Post Mortem – done, occurring or collected after death." Death, is by default a life altering experience. It touches you and changes you in ways you don't understand, but it opens doors, too. Sometimes in ways you can't begin to understand and before long, you're changed forever.

AU. Callie Torres is forced to attend a poetry reading. She suddenly finds herself pulled towards this unknown world of literature and a certain blonde writer.

"So I'll kiss you longer, baby, any chance that I get. I'll make the most of the minutes and love with no regrets."

Their first 'I love you' was uttered seven years ago, after being best friends almost their whole childhood. Now, happily married and with the first year of Med School behind them, they look forward to a future of more time in lab classes, their internship and residency. Let's see what else destiny has planned for them.

When bones fracture, they have to go through three stages before they really heal. They need to react, repair, and remodel, and it takes time. Not taking the time for these steps means that the fracture will never really go away. Arizona didn't take the time to properly heal; she skipped steps. They didn't plan to meet each other. Arizona didn't plan on Callie being more than one night; Callie didn't plan on Arizona being so resistant. But maybe the best outcomes arrive from the unplanned. AU
