MINOR UPDATES NEEDED

(about, stories, favorites, and policies need minor updates and changes)

} Mandi (n.)

/Man-dee/

Eighteen year old girl and high school senior, soon to be college freshman. Feminist, Christian, reader, writer. Enjoys books, writing, television, fantasy, music, computers, fashion, food. Intelligent, sarcastic, creative, loyal, protective. (fandoms) Charmed, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Twilight, Leverage, Librarians, Hunger Games, Descendants, Disney, Avengers, Rise of the Guardians.

Reading: My preferred fics are in the Charmed, Descendants, or Harry Potter fandom right now. Pairings vary fandom to fandom, but I often prefer gen fics over romance fics. My favorite genres are family, friendship, and hurt/comfort. Happy endings are a must, because the world is already sad enough. For length, I will read anything from drabbles to oneshots to a seventy chapter story, depending on my time and mood. However, I rarely, if ever, read a story that's not marked complete. I'm not a fan of OCs or character bashing, because it often enrages me. Cannon mutilation is something I very much dislike, or acting as if cannon is inferior in most cases. (Twilight is the one exception, because it's terrible.)

Reviewing: Like many readers, I'm not very good at reviewing consistently. I will often not review, because it's easier for me to go to the next chapter or a different story. However, I am working on reviewing more fics. I give constructive criticism, because that's what I personally prefer. I will include what I like about a fic, but also what I dislike and I believe you can improve on. If I ever make you feel upset with a review, please PM me so that we can straighten it out, because I often don't mean to make someone upset.

Betaing: ...I am a truly terrible beta, and I am so sorry to everyone who I have betaed. Okay, I should rephrase that. I'm a very good beta. However, I am terrible at betaing things in a timely fashion. If you ask me to beta, I will likely say yes, but I encourage you to only let me beta oneshots or short stories, not anything more than four or five chapters. When I beta, I focus on a multitude of things. However, my main priorities are grammar and characters.

Writing: I absolutely love to write. For the most part, a lot of my fics on Fanfiction.Net are terrible. However, I am working on adding and posting my better fics. My main fandom is Charmed, specifically next generation fics focusing on Chris and Wyatt. My fics tend to include some cursing (because my interpretations of Chris and Melinda are that both curse a lot), fighting, and some sexual aspects, but no smut or anything above PG-13. (Eventually, however, that may change.) My stories tend to focus on platonic relationships, such as friends or family. When I include romantic relationships, they are normally pretty stable. You can find information about each of my fics below, which will include a summary and any other information fans would like to know.

Painfully Surviving: Another short drabble fic, this time a Hunger Games fic about Peeta's thoughts and emotions at the very end of the first book when they're about to get off the train at District 12. It's completed, but it was also written when I was fourteen. I'm thinking about deleting it, because it's not very much long and it's a bit cliche. However, currently, I'm leaving it as is, until I have time to properly deal with it.

Names and Personas: A Charmed oneshot about Chris and all of his different names and personas. I'll be honest here, this is probably my favorite fic out of everything I've written. However, I probably need to go back eventually and revise it to make more sense for everyone. (It was based off of a fanfiction series that I've been writing for the past three years and probably will never post.) I've also been playing around with the idea of writing a sequel, well, more like a similar thing in the universe, for it, focusing on Wyatt. We'll see, but, currently, Names and Personas is complete.

Hitter to Librarian: A Leverage and Librarians oneshot, focusing on Eliot and Jake. While this is currently complete, I've also thrown around the idea of either making it into a full-fledged story or making it a bit of mini-series where unrelated oneshots do the same type of thing with Parker and Hardison. Still, this is another favorite of mine, even if I left the ending ambiguous. (For any curious readers, I imagine that about three seconds after the fic ends, Eliot bolts like a bat out of hell, leaving behind both of his families. After a bit of an adventure, they find him and it all ends happily ever after with the Leverage family joining the LITs, Eve, Flynn, and Jenkin at the Library to help save the world, while the Leverage family runs their cons on the side, with the Librarian family helping out occasionally. Key word: occasionally. Eve is still a bit unhappy with the whole con thing, since she was in law enforcement after all. Flynn finds it hilarious as hell and loves it.)

Identities of a Traitor: A short Harry Potter drabble that was intended to turn into a series about the traitors and spies Voldemort had on his side. As this was written and posted when I still had the whole "everything is dark and terrible mindset," pretty much every single character was a spy. Actually, not pretty much, every character was a spy. As it never quite got off the ground, I'll likely be deleting it eventually.

Empty Eyes: A Charmed drabble about what basically equals to Wyatt's worst nightmare. Despite how short it is, this is one of my all time favorite stories that I've written! While the prose teeters the line between pretty and purple a bit too much, I just really loved it. It was more of a fun description writing exercise than a flat out story, but I had a lot of fun writing it!

The Nightly Talks and Adventures of the Halliwell Brothers: Often shortened to TNAotHB, a Charmed oneshot series about the Halliwell Brothers' talks and adventures at night. This is one of my rather "uhhh" stories. It's roughly half and half with how well or how badly the oneshots are written. This won't be staying up, but it won't be permanently gone, just combined with Magic, Chaos, and Halliwells into a new oneshot collection.

Magic, Chaos, and Halliwells: Often shortened to MCaH, a Charmed oneshot series about the Halliwell family that focuses on the next generation. This is also one of my more "uhhh" stories, being half and half on each oneshot. It'll be combined with the Nightly Talks and Adventures of the Halliwell Brothers into a new oneshot collection.

The Moment Captain-Man Nearly Lost his Sidekick: A Henry Danger oneshot that focuses on Ray's character during Indestructible Henry. I ended up writing it while I watched the episode. The oneshot was as cannon compliant as possible, with a lot of the dialogue being word for word. I'm not sure how well I pulled off Ray's character, but I wanted to give it a shot to give him a bit more depth. (The show is fun to watch, but I think we can agree that there's not too much depth in it, at the end of the day.)

a witch's odd fascination: an introspective Charmed oneshot about Chris and his thing with knives. Mostly just a writing exercise to get back into fanfiction, but contains a few of my headcanons about him and a few other characters, so it may be useful to read if you're curious?

Fandoms

Charmed: my biggest fandom at the moment. My favorite characters are all next-gen, mainly Chris, Wyatt, and Bianca. For ships, my main ones are all canon. (Prue/Andy, Piper/Leo, Phoebe/Coop, Paige/Henry, Chris/Bianca) However, most of my fics tend to focus on the platonic aspect of Chris's relationships, especially with Wyatt and Bianca. You may have read on some of my fics mentions of something called Chosen Destiny, which was a spin-off series I started working on when I was thirteen. Currently, there has been no actual stories posted and I've stopped working on it, because I was stressing myself out to try and reach an impossible standard of perfection. However, I will still be writing a lot of next-gen Charmed fanfiction in the future. Also, some quick facts to keep in mind for my stories below.

I do not consider the comics canon, for various reasons. However, each sister has three children. (Piper and Leo have Wyatt, Chris, and Melinda. Phoebe and Coop have Peyton, Parker, and Patience. Paige and Henry have Charlotte, Penny, and Henry Jr. Also, for the next-gen, DJ is Darryl Morris Jr. Sebastian Johnson is the half-manticore baby from season six. Melinda exists in all my stories, including an unchanged future oneshot that I may or may not post. Coop is one of my favorite characters. While I previously didn't mind Cole, the fandom's glorification of him and subsequent bashing of Coop has made him completely unlikable to me. Darryl deserved a hell of a lot better, in show and in fandom. He also deserved to have an actual arc, dammit. (Which is why in my fics, he and his family are brought back to San Francisco, so that the Halliwells can treat him right.) Bianca is one of my favorite characters and I love her. She is not evil. I'd like to remind people that she was taught to be a killer for the Phoenix from when she was born, severely brainwashing her, and still managed to become good in the unchanged future, when the only reason she should was to be a good person for her own sake. I'd also like to add that while she did temporarily betray Chris, it took being left alone with Wyatt for months and she was terrified that anyone else would bring back his body. Even then, after Chris broke off their engagement in response to her behavior, she still chose to turn good and hold off Wyatt so that Chris could complete their mission and save the world. (Basically? Bianca kicks ass and I will fight anyone who tries to write her off as "Chris's evil fiancee who betrayed him," because she was so much more than that.)

Descendants: I haven't actually posted a fic for the Descendants fandom yet, but I feel like it's only a matter of time. I've never read the novels, so that canon isn't guaranteed. The School of Secrets and Wicked World shorts, however, I have seen and will try to include in canon. (Can we all agree that the novels, movies, web series, and shorts don't fit in one coherent timeline? Because they really don't.) My favorite character is Mal, who I love. Again, my ships tend to run canon: Mal/Ben, Evie/Doug, Carlos/Jane. Fanon ships include Uma/Harry and Jay/Lonnie. This is probably a more unique opinion in the fandom, but I see the Core Four as having a largely sibling-like relationship. I think that it was only in Auradon that any of them actually managed to develop and grow enough to healthily handle a romantic relationship and they depended on each other as more sibling-like figures than any possible romantic partners.

Harry Potter: The only current Harry Potter fic on my account is one I plan on deleting, but none the less, I will talk. You're probably detecting a pattern, but my ships are mostly canon. Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, James/Lily, Remus/Tonks, etc. However, I am also much more willing to multi-ship, including Neville/Luna, Luna/Ron, Harry/Hermione, etc. I do not like character bashing, especially for the Weasleys and Hermione. (Some Dumbledore bashing will pass, however.) Also general heads up: Snape is not a hero. He's a despicable person and he won't be portrayed as a hero in my fics, because he isn't. Anyways, I don't know how many HP fics I'll post, if I do anytime soon.

Camp Half-Blood Chronicles: I currently don't have any fics up, but I hope that'll change! My main ships are canon (again), but I'm also planning on trying some fanon ships. Most of my fics will probably be AU, because I am not currently caught up on the entire universe, and I haven't read the books for a year or two. For the universe, I have read: the Lightning Thief, the Sea of Monsters, the Titan's Curse, the Battle of the Labyrinth, the Last Olympian, the Lost Hero, the Son of Neptune, the Mark of Athena, the House of Hades, the Red Pyramid, the Throne of Fire, and the Serpent's Shadow.

Currently

New Fanfictions: I'm slowly working on developing and writing some new fanfictions for this account. I'm currently working on a Percy Jackson and the Olympians fic and the beginning for a Charmed oneshot collection/chaptered fic. Neither are completed, nor almost completed. However, the PJO oneshot is completely outlined and the Charmed fic is currently being written. (For curious readers, it's a bit of a rewrite of MCaH's dragon chapter, but a lot longer and a lot more interesting. I'm also possibly weaving an actual arc in there, but that remains to be seen.)

Old Fanfictions: My plans for my old fics are up there, so there's not much to mention here. If a fic doesn't have a mention of my plans for it, then I'm planning to keep it on my account unless I change my mind. For fanfictions that I've deleted, I am either completely rewriting them or they're completely deleted. It mostly depends on my personal interest and potential I see in the fics.

Favorite Stories & Authors: All of them have been moved to my followed stories or authors until I can sort through them. Currently, it's completely empty.

Followed Stories & Authors: While you can't see them, this is more of a "hey, here's the deal" for my own clarity. Currently, I don't believe they've been updated in quite a while. They're definitely not accurate, but once I go through, I'll be: deleting them, moving them to favorites, or keeping them there. I'd say the first two are more likely, because I won't follow a story that's already completed and, as I may not have mentioned, I don't typically read incomplete stories.

Policies

Reviews: For the most part, I don't delete flames. To be frank, they're absolutely hilarious to me. I may tell off the flamer in the next chapter or whatever, but, for the most part, I just don't care. I am all for constructive criticism! One of the reasons Names and Personas is one of my favorite fics is because it got a lot of constructive criticism. It helps me learn where my writing isn't so good and what I need to improve on. Personally, I honestly don't care if you have an account or not. In all of my time on Fanfiction.Net, I've never thought that someone should have an account to review, even for flames. (Again, relating specifically to me. Your thoughts can be different and that's totally fine! I personally just don't care if reviewers/flamers have accounts.) The only time I thought a reviewer needed an account was when they reviewed a story of mine to reply to a post in a forum. That did piss me off, because if you're going to replying or talking about stuff from the forums, you do it either in the forum or in private message. Do not review a story to tell me something from the forums, because I won't be happy.

Character Bashing: Honestly, I don't like character bashing. It's petty and if you have to warp a character for their behavior to make sense, it's not a very exemplary example of your writing skills. There's a difference between disliking a character and writing them the way you see them versus despising a character and bashing out them. For my stories, I avoid character bashing, but that doesn't mean that fan favorites won't be portrayed negatively. Severus Snape was a coward and a disgusting human being, from the information in the books and films. Writing him as an antagonist who bullies children is realistic and cannon. Albus Dumbledore was heavily flawed, but still tried to do the right thing, even with his flaw of hubris and methodical planning. Writing him as the major antagonist who plans to take over the wizarding world is unrealistic and completely contradictory to cannon. (He had the chance to do that already and turned it down. Multiple times.)

Character Glorification: On the flip side, I also don't tend to glorify characters, because they're my favorites. I can lapse into this at times (mostly with Chris Halliwell, and to a lesser extent, Bianca, because it's hard to straddle that line they both did during the show), but my end goal with my stories is for everyone and everything in them to be at least semi-realistic. (There's only so far you can go with "realism" in these universes after all.) If I do this in a story, I'd like to know so that I can improve it for future stories and remove the over-the-top aspects.

Original Characters: Again, this is a personal decision of mine, but for the most part, I can honestly say that original characters aren't bad. Whether you admit or not, you've written an original character at point, because you can't just use completely cannon characters all the time. I don't even have an issue with an original character being a part of the supporting, or even main cast in a story. Majority of the time, my issues come from the fact that they're not someone I can relate to, because they're wish fulfillment, pure and simple. They have these wonderful powers, tragic backstory, perfectly complementing personality, and rarely any real reason to exist outside of what the writer wishes they could do. Unfortunately, many original characters on Fanfiction.Net fall under that umbrella.

I'm also coming from this opinion as someone who has written OC's. My first one was Abigail Jackson, the twin sister of Percy Jackson in a Human!AU, where she existed so that Connor Stoll wouldn't end up alone. (I can honestly say that her issue wasn't any of the stuff I mentioned above, but the fact that she was unneeded in the story.) However, I've also paid attention to how to properly develop OC's. I've also written many next generation Charmed fics, that largely deal with assigning characters personalities and powers and figuring out how they function. Take Melinda Halliwell for an example. She's passionate and loyal and sassy, the younger sister to Wyatt and Chris, the youngest daughter to Piper and Leo, and dating Darryl Morris's son. She's also a bitch who can be abrasive and can push things too far. Another example could be Peyton Halliwell, the eldest daughter of Phoebe and Coop. She's sweet, romantic, empathetic, and even has a rare power not seen in centuries (Charmspeak). However, that power is also fairly passive, not letting her defend herself compared to her cousins, and her intelligent is more emotion-centered, leaving her as a bit of a ditz. The final example (because this is getting rather long) is Patience Halliwell, the youngest (Halliwell and) daughter of Phoebe and Coop. She's sweet, intelligent, and her powers will eventually progress to make her a powerful foe. However, she's currently painfully shy and timid, lacks all confidence, and doesn't know how to defend herself against demons. All three characters have clear flaws and conflicts that they need to overcome and their functions in stories don't rely strictly on cannon characters. (Or, more technically, cannon characters that we have actual personalities for. They technically exist as Melinda, Phoebe's oldest daughter, and Phoebe's unborn daughter, but they're also basically blank slates for writers.)

Private Message: Sorry, but a lot of the time, I don't reply to logged in reviews. I'm a senior doing dual enrollment and I'm also pretty busy. Furthermore, there's not a lot to say to something like "update soon" or "I loved it!" Don't get me wrong, it's really sweet and I love the reviews, but I just won't respond. However, if you include specifics, such as "I love how Character A's feelings about Character B's were described" or "Line X was so funny!" then I will respond, because you're giving me something specific to talk about. However, if you private message me, I will definitely respond! I'm a bit socially awkward, but I love talking to people.
