He didn't want to go back. There hadn't been enough fight left in him to even consider it, no matter what Obito thought. But he didn't have much of a choice when he found himself back in time regardless. If he'd had a choice between dying and going back to fix things then, he would have chosen death. But once he was back, he found he couldn't just leave things be.
