Author has written 6 stories for Naruto. Hey there! This is Blu, and I'm a Spanish derp who likes to write things (awesome, right?). Reading: I don't have a particular fandom or genre I prefer, as long as it's something I enjoy reading. The only thing I'm unlikely to read are stories that feature sex prominently, as I'm not particularly interested in it (unless it fits the story). My top priorities with fanfiction are avoidance of character bashing and a modicum of grammar/structure. I mainly enjoy reading about well-developed characters and their interactions with each other; worldbuilding is also a big favorite of mine. Taking an established universe and expanding on its concepts is fascinating to me. Writing: I like to try and understand a character as best as I can, so I can reflect them properly in my works. I'm very bad at picking favorites or hating on things in general, so I'll try my best at treating characters fairly, but I'm pretty sure I'll eventually fuck up, if I haven't already, so there's that. Just have my word: I won't consciously bash any of them (if I do, please tell me!) That being said, I also like to push their limits and put them in new situations, to see what kind of development I can come up with. Of course, sometimes I just feel a tiny bit evil and try to hit a character's weak points, to check out what I get out of it. I won't shy away from their flaws either. Just like I do with reading, I love worldbuilding and constantly think about how to expand established universes. I'll develop "ships" (romantic or otherwise) purely to throw two or more characters at each other and see what happens. No particular genre preference, either! This is what you can expect of me. That being said, I only started writing in English a few years back, so any tips on how to do it better are way more than welcome! (I also by no means think there will be no flaws in my work... but that's the fun of it! Learning along the way, wohoo). Feel free to recommend any stories (even if they're not from Naruto) if you think I'd enjoy them. I'm always up for a PM if you wanna get wall of texted at. I hope both you and I will have a fun ride with this (as wrong as that sounds...) FANFICTION Barebones: this one is tricky. It branches off from the canon towards the end of the manga - Sasuke beats Naruto, and chaos ensues. Its protagonist is Sakura, with Sasuke as an antagonist. It works with the premise of taking away all the things that hold those two to sanity. Slow-paced, detailed and quite brutal... it's focused on character development, in a world perhaps even darker and more despairing than the original. Insanity plays a big role in this one, too. The title's name, 'barebones', is a slight bastardization of a word used to describe something that has been stripped down to the bare minimums, its essential/core components. 23/05/2017 Note: this story was written in very unpolished drafts: I wanted to challenge myself and write a chapter each week (on top of translating them), with a word minimum of 5K words. I knew it would be a long story (I'm a naturally verbose author, aka I don't shut the fuck up), and my sketches were very rough. I knew how I wanted to end and how I'd get there, but it's still excessive in length and probably contains a lot of derpy narration (it was my first long story in English). I'm very proud of some chapters and concepts, but I'm under no illusion about how polished it is (though I appreciate criticism anyway! I still try to correct any mistakes I see during proof-reading, as of today). Spanish translation: here, on the account Brisa Levantina.WARNINGS for Barebones (for those who are curious): Partiality. Narration is based on the character's point of view, so clarity depends on their mental state. Humanity. This is a story about overcoming pain and weaknesses in times of loss and darkness. Happiness is rare and difficult to earn. More than anything, this is all about self-acceptance - drawing parallels between grief, depression, self-hatred and other psychological issues that most people experience. Brutality. Expect suffering/pain, torture, abuse, rape (not necessarily in a sexual sense) and dementia - the amount of things the characters go through truly put their souls to test. Some will fail, some won't. Being important in this story or the original work doesn't grant them safety. Details. Slow, detailed plot. I work on the little things here and there that are supposed to make the characters and world "realistic". Characters, rather than being pawns changed to fit the story, are figures changed by the progression of it (aka, I value keeping them In-Character more than changing them for no reason, to fit the story). Lies. Morality is made by who states the rules (in other words: nothing is true, everything is permitted). Of Ninja. You can figure this one out on your own.(Man, I was really damn adorable when I wrote this list). Kaiten: my next big project, which I'm stupidly excited about, even if I make progress at a snail's pace. There are three things you should know 'bout it:
Details: The story will total about 100K words tops, with 12 chapters and 1 epilogue. I'm working to curb my verbose tendencies here (not on this overly long summary, but the story!), and also trying to ensure that every single scene furthers the plot in one way or another. Themes/Warning: It will both be a story of simple, slice of life pleasures, and quite a few darker themes. They are never far apart from each other. I apologise in advance if some of you read some of the worst things the story has to offer, and find yourself uncomfortable or hurt in a way you didn't seek. (This includes facepalming because I said something stupid, or the story frustrates you). Goals: I want to make an AU story where the characters still feel like themselves, and not just convenient plot devices with a particular flair. Even if their situations have changed, affecting the kind of people they are, I aim to make them feel true. Even if, after starting out similarly to their canon counterparts, their development splits further away due to how my story progresses. Secondly, I want to use this story to comment on the dynamics of Konoha with a critical, yet not cynical eye. This includes the dynamics between clans as a whole, but also the finer details of jutsu and bloodlines. One of my main points of development is the Byakugan, which has been revamped to match the Sharingan (this one, in turn, has been nerfed). Finally, this is my best attempt at what a HinaSaku relationship might look like in this scenario (both romantically and in general). There's very few stories about this pairing, even less than there are stories of either of them as a true main character. I did this mostly because I thought their dynamics would be fun to experiment with, as happens with most things I "ship". I also wanna give Ino and some other characters a spot at the forefront, 'cause I only ever see them as running gags in the background of other stories, or as static characters that never develop at all. Lemons/Romance: I'll warn you, I'm not a lemon person; and while I can read stories that are mainly just romance, Kaiten isn't going to be it. It's a slow-burner, more focused on character interaction as a whole, and the ramifications of the AU's premise. That's not to say there won't be any fluff, but I will not ditch the plot/action for the romance. Suspension of disbelief: this is due to the mere premise of this story. I have mapped the AU changes, which go back a very long way - it's plot-coincidental that some things remain the same (or very similar), and that most, if not all characters, are born at all. Other details have changed, such as some ages. I've put a lot of thought into which changes to introduce, and what they would impact. I hope that the details will not bother you as you read (and I choose to believe that, however slim the chances of this particular AU happening as it is, they aren't zero). The Naruto Effect: this fanfiction came to life as a dare from a friend - he wanted me to do something specific in an interaction between Sakura and Sasuke, and so here it is. The underlying meaning of it is emphasis on how the entirety of Team Seven do care for each other (and quite obvious hints to SasuSaku, of course), even if at times their communication is slightly less than derpy. The title would refer to Naruto's ability to 'knock some sense into people', oftentimes literally. Of Ninja!: this is a derpy fanfiction that I update very, very rarely - there's very little plot, if at all. It's an attempt to be witty a la Rock Lee's Springtime of Youth. Each chapter is about 500-600 words. The little line I follow is that Sasuke didn't manage to escape the village after Itachi decided to show up again and fuck shit up for 'em lolz. Expect idiocy, dumb humor and all sorts of derpy things! This story will be scarce in updates, and since there isn't much progress you shouldn't expect it to be finished anytime soon. Spring: this is a short chapter that came to mind, inspired by the general emotions of Naruto Gaiden. It's definitely an AU with a heavy feeling pretty much everywhere. It's SasuSaku, because these two didn't have enough sad stories to tell. I think the summary on the fanfiction itself does a better job than I could do here, so I'll leave it at this. Time: a story I wrote in small snippets a long time ago - I wrote the first part in one sitting, abandoned it, and recently finished it (it's about 13.6K words in total, with chapters ranging between 200 and 600 words). In this one, I work with the premise of Sakura's sudden disappearance a little bit after Part 1's Exams - it has an (for the characters) unexpected effect on her team; she does come back, but to put it lightly, her state is not good, so it's almost as if she wasn't there... however, her influence keeps changing the future of her team. Favorites, follows, reviews: Personally, I appreciate support and/or feedback of any kind, it really makes my day to see that someone took their time for something I wrote! Positive or negative, it's interest on my work all the same. I'll try to pay back in kind, if the people reviewing me have stories that were updated/posted fairly recently. Supports boost for all, boo-yah. I follow stories that are interesting to me, either because they're new and I feel they have potential, or because I know them already and I'm just waiting for updates. I'm not very outspoken despite the excessive amount of words I use, so if you ended up here because my name popped up in your notifications: cheers to you, thanks for the nice times! I'll try to use favorites as a way to maximize exposition on stories that don't have much attention. I dislike character bashing and OoC behavior that isn't particularly explained (unless it's comedy), as well as grammar, so I'm going to be very picky with what I put up there. That being said, I'll also add things I generally like... it's my Favorites list, after all! I'll just try to use it mostly for what I mentioned above. Other accounts: Bluelaia (AO3) (I'm aware that external links don't work, but here you have the reference)About any of those, reviewing of any kind is welcome, since I want to do my best at putting out a decent story. As long as you people enjoy the read, it probably means I'm doing something right! Cheerps.
