This is a bit of an extension to City of Lost Souls, or I guess a prequel to City of Heavenly Fire. The Silent Brothers have discovered that Clary causes Jace to lose control over his emotions, a dangerous thing considering his current situation. Clary and Jace aren't allowed to see each other for the time being, a rule neither of them plan to follow.

Clary's life is far from perfect. She's the school bully's favorite victim, she threw up on the hottest guy on campus, and, on top of everything, her mom is dating her English teacher. So in comparison, a lead in a class play doesn't seem like the end of the world, does it? Not when the play is Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and Romeo happens to be the very guy she threw up on!

Clary Fray and Jace Wayland hated each other at first sight. It seems like he lives to make her life miserable. But when Jace is attacked and the police start to suspect Clary of being responsible (despite the fact that she played a part in saving his life), it becomes necessary to find the real culprit, and impossible for them to hate each other any longer.
