Author has written 1 story for Mortal Kombat.

2/10 Update: Been fandom-hopping for the past few months, which sounds unproductive, but it's actually a great way to relieve the stress that comes with applying to grad school and sending short fiction out to local publications. Either way, I'm not dead. But what about fanfiction?

Well? What about it?

For those who are wondering/panicking/fretting over the state of Mind Tricks:

You guys are obviously more dedicated to the story than I am so thank you very much and here are the keys to the plot!

-Snatches the keys from your grasp-

You don't have a license for that.

Anyway, I've received a few kind e-mails over the past few months (and I'm very, very horrible at replying to messages, so please don't take it personally) about that Mind Tricks person, and whether she's still in a coma, and whether she'll be able to, some day, walk again. The story's actually running around in the backyard playing badminton with her imaginary friends. What I mean by that is that the story is on a low simmer while I chart a course for how best to approach the next few chapters.

I have to draw maps. Maps.

I kind of failed to mention that those first six chapters by themselves constitute the most words I have ever (re)written in such a short time span. I had completely burned myself out by the time I finished Chapter 6 and made Reptile a cliched sssnake talker, so for my own peace of mind I had to just stop for a while. The good news is that I took the story's premise and retooled it into an original work that might eventually turn out to be my first completed novella. The bad news is that this was time spent not working on Mind Tricks.

Long story short, the story's still around but I'm a writer so that means I'm dithering. Truth is I like the story, too, but I don't want to upload a shoddy Chapter 7 that'll make the story itself trip over its own feet. Once I'm pleased with the path I've set out, I'll start uploading again.

-Looks at the three discarded versions of Chapter 7 sitting in the wastebin-

You know how they say that rewriting is more important than writing? They weren't kidding. Now excuse me while I go retcon Reptile's diction into something Mileena dreamed up after Jade slipped a hallucinogen into her orange juice.

Oh wait, sorry, that hasn't happened yet.

Post-grad fiction writer. Recovering purple-prose addict. Beige prose therapy isn't as helpful as it sounds.

As indicated below, I'm currently writing Mind Tricks, an exploration of Mileena's character as established in Mortal Kombat 9. The story is built on the premise of Kitana's arcade ladder ending, and throws a few other endings into the mix as well. Hopefully this story will encourage new ways of looking at what I believe to be a very interesting character with a staggering amount of potential.

Obligatory caveats: I write slowly but considerately. I like Proust, and his tendency to ramble has rubbed off on me. I also like Joyce, and his tendency to (d)evolve into incoherence has also rubbed off on me. Shao Kahn destroys me on Beginner but I can curbstomp Tsung on Hard. Shepard and Hawke are girls dammit and I don't even know why Freddy Krueger.

I also have a deviantART where I try to make pictures, with varying degrees of success. You'll find that, along with hubris-laden journal entries, at http:///.

Mind Tricks reviews
She defeated the Emperor and brought peace to the realms, but Kitana could not bring herself to kill her own sister. Instead, she took Mileena under her wing and gave her a home to call her own. As a new member of the Edenian royalty, Mileena is now free to live on her own terms. But can the past be so easily forgotten?
