Author has written 6 stories for Mass Effect, and Thomas Was Alone. About Me: I'm a storyteller who loves the written word and the infinite complexities of the universe. My tastes do vary (as I'm sure the fiction I write will), however I enjoy stories that stretch the mind. Stories that create ideas we have not yet imagined and ask tough questions we do not want to ask about ourselves. I also enjoy stories that have multiple original characters, I feel as if these universes that authors create are too big for just the main characters to have adventures in. If Sci Fi, action, suspense, romance, asking hard questions, and psychological character studies are your thing we'll get along fantastically here, if not do not fret, there will be plenty of diversity in my stories. Novels: Mass Effect: A Deteriorating Antiphon [ADA] (Complete) Ten years after the Reaper War, Earth is still in ruin while the galaxy tries to recover. Marcus Tyson however, is a human who considers the political games to be irrelevant and foolish. In his anguish and hatred for a compliant society, he meets a strange man named Raven who promises to change the galaxy for the better. Little does Marcus know that the path he takes will be covered in blood. This is first novel I wrote for this site. It is a psychological and philosophical piece which is still firmly rooted in the style of what made the game's narratives so amazing. Action, romance, suspense, intrigue, this story's got it all. One could call it a deconstruction of the games, which I can agree with the more I think about it. As well, it contains a plethora of original characters who form the main cast, though the tale is not entirely without the heroes from the games. Mass Effect: The Moonshine Café [TMC] (In Progress) Some say that with every cup there is a story waiting to be told. On Illium, there is a place where all who have worries on their backs can come to and rest their burdens. A place where a cup of coffee is a small price to pay for your story to be told. This is not the tale of the bar "The Moonshine Cafe", but instead of the people who have visited it. The story was an idea I had for a collection of short stories focusing around a single location: a bar. Originally, this was to be a side project that I would occasional write a story or two for. However, I soon fell in love with the central characters and their dynamics with one another. Now I have a whole story planned out with a cohesive ending. The stories themselves, though connected by location, are also connected by theme. These themes are of love, the past, memory, acceptance, and regret all wrapped up in a film noir / jazz style. Original characters and canon characters show up from time to time, so expect plenty of surprises. One Shots: The Hunter [TH] (Complete) - Based on the game series "Mass Effect" On his death bed, Thane Krios recounts all that he has lost as well as all that he has gained. Written for the "Death of a Canon Character Challenge" on the Aria's Afterlife forum, this story deals with Thane's death in less than 1000 words. Originally the story was suppose to be extremely dark and depressing, but the more I wrote it, the more I realized that Thane's story in the games wasn't about despair, but reconciliation and hope. As such, I dealt with his death in a very similar manner. Mother [M] (Complete) - Based on the game "Thomas Was Alone" After the eradication of all the AIs, a young female scientists finds someone she never thought she would ever see again. Once I finished the game Thomas Was Alone, I jumped onto the internet to find out what people thought about the ending. To my surprise, not a single piece of fanfiction had been written about the story so far. This story is my response, as well as an epilogue, to the ending of the game. It is how I perceived the ending thematically and on a literal sense. Though it mostly deals with original characters, one particular character does show up and causes quite a splash. The Six Degrees of Separation [TSDS] (Complete) - Based on the game series "Mass Effect" After the Reaper War has ended, EDI spends her days with her husband Joker on the Citadel. She questions life, her new-found existence, and the role she now must play in society. Yet forces are moving that will shape her life in ways she cannot understand. Post-Control. This was written for the "Assuming Control September Contest" on the Aria's Afterlife forum. I wanted to take a look at synthetic life in a society that had recently been in a deep conflict with them. What changes would have to occur, what sanctions would be in place to maintain peace? These questions were the basis of the story, as well as my interpretation of EDI's search for the meaning of 'existence'. All in all, I think I did a pretty good job. Under the Widow's Gaze [UTWG] (Complete) - Based on the game series "Mass Effect" A spectre and his councillor, an affair only the vids could dream of. However, when you are Saren Arterius and Councillor Tevos, the romance is far less glamorous and far more dangerous. Written for the "I Will Go Down With This Ship" July Contest on the Aria's Afterlife forum, this story really took hold of me and made me realize how powerful the crack pair of Tevos/Saren could be. It's a story I am really proud of and may perhaps be the precursor to a full-blown novel. If you like it be sure to read the alternate ending which shows a different side to the relationship displayed. Recommendations: Authors Author of the brilliant Mass Effect: Origins, this is a writer who I always recommend reading to people new to Mass Effect Fanfiction. If you still crave stories similar to mine after reading everything I've done, I point you towards Osage as her style of writing and storytelling are similar to mine. Highly recommended. If a ShepardxTali fic is what you desire, Rockycombo wrote my favourite one on this site: In Love and War. A perfect mix of fluff, humour, and heart, Rockycombo is a fantastic author who I recommend reading if you want something to relax. His other work for Mass Effect is also hilarious and touching, so I recommend them as well! If someone asked me what I thought was necessary for someone to read in Mass Effect Fanfiction, I would not hesitate to point them towards Mass Effect: Interregnum. Simply put, this is a publishable piece and only seems to add towards the universe as a whole. A fantastic introspective on Garrus and his time between Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2, The Naked Pen is a master of weaving words and plot lines towards a satisfying conclusion. Forums The best place to be if you want to chat to amazing authors, participate in well crafted roleplays, or discuss every facet of the Mass Effect Universe. I'm often on there, so if you want to know where I've 'hidden', you can check there first. Communities If you like original characters as much as I do in Mass Effect Fanfiction, then this is the community for you! I also am a staff for the forum so I am constantly adding new ones to the mix. If you have an original character driven story that you want to show me, don't hesitate to PM me or the community creator NaturalBornParagon. Story Schedule: TBA Blog: UPDATE: 27-5-2014 I am alive. At least, I think I am. *pokes face* Yup, definitely alive. This little corner of the Internet has been quiet for quite some time and I'm going to change that very shortly. My computer had a hissy-fit so it'll be a bit longer before I upload any more Moonshine Cafe, but I just came on to say that everything will be up and running very shortly. My goal is to finish Moonshine by the end of the summer and to start up another project that should be very exciting. Maybe a few one-shots will sneak on by too. So here's my notice of return. UPDATE: 13-3-2014 The reason why I love Science Fiction so much is because the phrase "Nothing is new under the sun" isn't applicable. UPDATE: 26-12-2013 Happy holidays! I hope everyone is safe and having fun this winter season. More Moonshine will be coming soon . . . and when I mean soon, I mean today of course. UPDATE: 18-9-2013 One of the best moments when you're a writer is when you lose yourself writing and think, "Where did all the time go?" UPDATE: 9-9-2013 Thought of the day: Like a painter preparing their canvas for their masterpiece, so should we (an author) prepare our own. For we may have the most beautiful paint in the world and the most glorious image of our creation, but a sullied canvas will only prove to be a detriment to our art. UPDATE: 6-9-2013 Thought of the day: Simple ideas explained well are more impressive than complex convoluted conundrums. UPDATE: 28-8-2013 Cleaned up the author's page a bit. I feel it's a bit more organized and logical to read. Updates will continue again, everything has been written and is just going through the editing room. The wait is nearly over. UPDATE: 27-8-2013 To get the most out of the ending of Antiphon, Descartes is a good place to start. UPDATE: 14-8-2013 Thought of the day: We all know the phrase, "if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one to hear it, does it make a sound?" So then, in the same way, "if a character screams and there is no author to record it, does the character exist?" If you want to send me a private message about anything at all I will be happy to respond. |
