Charles and Erik have been married for 25 years, thrown together by a mandatory post-apocalyptic pairing system attempting to increase and strengthen the population. They have seven children. They have never spoken of love, but change is on the horizon.

Erik/Charles. Erik returns, weeks after Cuba, to find Charles on his deathbed. Charles asks him to stay. Erik refuses to believe that all is lost...especially considering that Charles's condition is his fault.

Charles/Erik. The mission to Russia goes differently, and with Erik dying in his arms Charles takes desperate, drastic action to save him.

Part Two of Cold Fusion. Metro City is under repair, and an angry young man wants to make a name for himself. More importantly, Megamind and Roxanne are together...but how long can he expect it to last? Rated M for later chapters. Romance angst drama.

Alternate ending: what would have happened if Charles had collapsed from the damage the coin did, Erik had relinquished his desire for vengeance to help him, and Erik had to reassure Charles that his vision of the original ending was only a nightmare.
