Hi, I'm Lira. I'm 17 and live in Lincoln, Nebraska. I like to read and write and bake. I volunteer to walk dogs and play with cats at a local animal shelter, and I would love to be a veterinarian, but I'll probably end up teaching or editing. Who knows? Most of what I write stays hidden away in my notebooks and laptop, but I have had several poems published.

I would probably never have written a piece of fan fiction, if not for my writers' small group. We'd decided on a challenge a few months ago to write something completely out of our comfort zone, and I drew the "Twilight fan fic" assignment out of a hat. At first, I was sure I couldn't do it, since I'd never written fan fiction before and hadn't read Twilight or seen the movies. But I jumped in and gave it a go, and after reading the books as research, I wrote my story, First Blush. And I actually enjoyed it. I struggle with characterization and conversation, so this gave me a good outlet to practice both with characters that already exist. I decided to write a second piece using the other idea I came up with when brainstorming for my first story.

I've also found some great writers on this site that I wouldn't have discovered if not for that chance assignment.

I appreciate reviews and feedback, as my goal is to become a better writer with every piece I create.
