Author has written 17 stories for Kolchak: The Night Stalker, and StarTrek: The Original Series.

My Kolchak is based on the original character, written so splendidly by Jeff Rice in his first novel, The Night Stalker (good book, don't miss it). Rice's Kolchak was quite crude and and quite sour – understandable, considering he was telling the story of all the injustices that had happened in Las Vegas. The character was later 'sweetened' considerably (for more sensitive audiences) for his appearance on TV in the 1970s, not to mention dried out. Rice's Kolchak turned to the bottle in a big way after he discovered vampires actually existed. Wouldn't we all.

The Star Trek story (A Paramount Predicament) is an out-lier, written by a much (!) younger version of myself.

The characters are not mine, I don't own anything except these stories :-). This is the time-line of the Kolchak stories (although timeline becomes important really at #9)

Kolchak: The Night Stalker story. "Extraordinary claims call for extraordinary evidence, Darlin'. You're asking me to chase on out of here, go isolate myself and – if what you claim is true – just weaken and die out there alone somewhere? And why! Because you claim it's true? Uh-uh.
