Greetings, internet denizens!

I've wanted to write for a while, but I always found it really hard to come up with rounded characters I actually cared about, and a story that didn't feel really contrived. I will confess, until about a year ago I avoided fanfiction, not out of snobbery (mostly) but just because I'm weirdly protective of my Harry Potter headcanon and I didn't want anything to change how I felt about the characters. Anyway, I eventually got very bored one day and read a very long fic about Dumbledore's Army that made me cry buckets at the end (although being British I could not help finding it kind of hilarious that the author seemed to think Marks and Spencers was like a posh department store, with personal shoppers and general poshness. Marks and Spencers is like an upmarket supermarket that sells a few cheap clothes as well, I buy Percy Pigs there). And from thence, I was hooked. This is in the AN to my first story, The Last Days of Godric's Hollow, but this one fic, The Shoebox Project (http:///sbp/) I read over and over again because I loved it so much, and got really frustrated that it was left unfinished. And that bugged me for months and months, until one night when I was lying awake I suddenly had what I think is known in the land of TV Tropes as a 'plot bunny', which became the opening passage of my story. I tried to go to sleep for another ten minutes or so, but I was terrified I'd forget it so eventually I got out of bed, found a notebook, and wrote until 3am. And that is the story of how I became a fanfiction writer.

Update 01.07.11: Starting a new fic! This one is Remus/Tonks, it's another excuse for me to fill in bits of canon I've always wanted to know more about. It's going to be about how they fell in love, why Remus tried to push her away, all that larks. Plot bunnies appearing at random moments (in the middle of washing my hair, this time), I love you.
