Author has written 1 story for Team Fortress 2. An Idle Mind is the Devil's Playground.' Universal disclaimer: I do not own the fandoms I write about, I have no affiliation to the actual owners, and I am not doing any of this for profit. Each respective fandom belongs to their respective creators. I have no hand in any of it. I mostly post on my journal because I always write in bits and pieces and never one thing at a time (and it's generally not public posting quality). If I ever manage to write something and like it (read: it doesn't make me want to bash my head against the wall when I read over it again the next day), I'll post it on here. Until then... Also, it should be noted, for safety's sake, that my genre of choice is slash. I will write het, gen and occasionally fem-slash, but slash is generally what I go with. No particular reason, I just like it. If a story of mine starts moving into Slash or fem-slash territory, I'll add a warning to the summary or to the beginning of every chapter. When in doubt, check what I have noted for it on here. It should say one way or the other. So...yeah. Don't say you haven't been warned. Imagenation500 on Live journal has the most wonderful prompts. If you're ever feeling blocked, you should check them out. In fact, I think a lot of my writing is going to be based on some prompt or another from there. Name: Dizzy. Just Dizzy. Queen of cliches, run on sentences and un-funny humor. Ph34R me! Age: Old enough to know better, but still to young to care. (Haha.) Birthplace: Texas Interesting Fact: I prefer comments that tell me exactly what I did wrong/right in a story to ones that just tell me I did well, they enjoyed it and I should continue and/or they hated it, it was crap and I should never write again. Those reviews grate on my nerves the most because they are not reviews: They are place holders. I want to know exactly what I'm doing wrong so I can fix it. That's the purpose of a review. And I will post some complete and utter shit; I'd rather be, after all, a mediocre (or even a completely awful) writer instead of one who doesn't write at all. But please...help a fellow writer improve, yeah? Fandoms: This changes daily. At the moment, it includes TF2, Kingdom Hearts, Doctor Who (though I don't think I could ever write for that fandom), Alice In Wonderland (Book, SyFy version and 2010 movie, though I think Burton could have done a little better on that last one), Tin Man, Psychonaughts, Transformers Prime and Tim Burton's Sleepy Hallow. There will probably be something new to add tomorrow and the day after and the day after and so on and so forth, but I'm terribly lazy and so probably won't. Add anything, that is. It is probably safe to assume that if it was a cartoon in the 80's and 90s, I'm probably at least fond of it. There were very few exceptions. Some I just haven't ever seen, but whatever, I'm rambling now. Favorite books: Alice In Wonderland, Treasure Island, Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Dandelion Wine, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Stupidest Angel, Fool, The Wheel of Time Series (even though I'm not very far in them), M is for Magic, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit before it, Dracula (as terribly boring as it was, it was still a good story), A Midsummer Night's Dream (I know it's a play, but I count it as a book), anything by Poe, and several other authors that I won't put on here because I haven't had the occasion to read more than a handful of their short stories, although I did particularly enjoy them. Anything by Terry Pratchett (Small Gods is great). I keep trying to read Dante's Divine Comedy and the Three Musketeers, but every time I've tried I haven't gotten very far in them before I end up distracted :(. Favorite Movies: Scream, Ink, Muppet Treasure Island, (Disney's) Hunchback of Notredame (Though this one is debatable because if it wasn't for the villain I would despise this movie.), Oliver and Company, The Princess and the Frog, The Pirates of the Caribbean series, District 9, Meet the Robinsons, The Great Chipmunk Adventure, Ducktales: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, The Great Mouse Detective, (I know, I watch a lot of cartoons. I feed my inner child.) Mulan, Sherlock Holmes (The newest one with RDJ) The Dark Knight, The Iron Giant, Mambo Itlaiano, Broken Hearts Club, East Side Story, Dead and Breakfast, MoH: The Fairhaired Child, Amilie, Pan's Labyrinth, The Orphanage, Scooby-Doo, Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, Up, The Princess Diaries, For a Lost Soldier, Osmosis Jones, Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Jurassic Park (only number one) Final Destination, Doom, Don't Look Under the Bed, How to Train Your Dragon ...there's tons more, I just don't watch movies often so I forget the titles and such...like this really good coming of age movie about this lesbian girl from a big family that falls in love with an only child from a family that expects her to be perfect...it was a great movie, but I watched it late on TV and I have no idea what it's called ;_; If anyone reads this and can tell me, I'd be very much obliged. . I'd put Burton's Alice In Wonderland on here, but I would have liked it a billion times more if he had stuck to the original script. I think that's enough lists for one night. Phew. Five Things I would Like to Improve About My Writing: 1. Sentence structure: I tend to word things awkwardly. 2. I'm pretty good with homophones, but 'It's' and 'Its' give me problems. I think it's the possessive apostrophe rule that confuses me. 3. I'm either to descriptive or not descriptive enough. I haven't found that right level of balance yet. 4. I worry to much. Half the stuff I write never gets finished because halfway through I convince myself it's complete and utter crap. I'll never learn if I don't finish anything. 5. Character voice. I always worry that my characters are to stiff and awkward when they interact. Things I'm Doing to Improve on This: 1. Reading other writers' works, seeing how they word certain things. 2. Careful proofreading, making the distinction between the two in my head as I write the word. 3. Practice makes perfect. 4. I don't know how I'll fix this one yet. I guess just finish 5. I've been looking at examples in other people's work, and paying more attention to how I, and the people around me, speak and interact. Hopefully something will sink in ;) Current Projects |
