Author has written 1 story for Harry Potter. Howdy! I'm an amateur writer, and since English is not my native language, and never will be, I hope that people will overlook any potential mistakes or sucky grammar. I started writing fan fiction because I have read so much of it for several years, and felt for so long that I'd like to try it myself. The FF I've read has varied, but it's mostly been of the Harry Potter cathegory. I'm a typical fan of taboo relationships, which is why my favourite pairings generally tend to be Harry/Draco, Fred/George, Hermione/Draco, hell, even Snape/someone. Yes, Snape. Don't look at me like that. Long fascinated by Fred and George Weasley, I decided to try to write my own fiction about them. "Perhaps it is Karma?" follows Fred's point of view as he struggles with new-found horribly taboo feelings for his brother. I have read many Fred and George fanfictions, but I was very rarely satisfied with how the characters and their developments were executed. So many fiction writers decide to write their characters a bit OOC (something that is completely fine if you enjoy that of course!) and it's very common to see a romance story which proceeds, in my opinion, all too fast. From my point of view, if a young guy discovers he is physically attracted to his own twin brother, I'd expect a whole lot of angst, denial and disgust. It's simply not realistic that George, after feeling the urge to kiss Fred, realizes "Oh god I'm in LOVE with my brother!" and ten minutes later only worries about "How do I tell him?", or worse yet, just simply does tell him and get an "I love you too, George!" and then proceed to have a heavy make out session. I'm writing this because I want people to know my thoughts behind "Perhaps it is karma?". I wanted to write an (at least somewhat) realistic fiction where I put on the shoes of a young man slowly coming to hate himself for something he cannot help - an insane physical attraction to a family member, and one of the same sex to boot. I consider it a great challenge to keep F&G in character when put in situations that we, as Harry Potter fans, have never seen them in, or can barely imagine them to be in. Their high-spirited and (if I may say) brilliantly care-free personalities definately makes it harder to write them into scenarios where they are to feel angst or be serious. It's also hard to capture the psychological trauma and struggle that something like this would excite, and there lies my enthusiasm for a good challenge. I hope very much that people enjoy my story as much as I have enjoyed many of theirs! Part of the beauty of is after all the sharing of fantasies. :) Feel free to ask me questions at any time. ...Or shout at me for turning Fred into a whiner. If you have any cool Harry Potter fan art, I'll be extremely excited to have a look at it! And if not, well... I'm probably very excited about you anyway. Have a biscuit. |
