Hello everyone, and welcome to SolidBlack Stories!

Welcome to our page! We hope you are enjoying the works of Marina Black and James Brummett. We are two authors here at Fanfiction.Net who have come together to write stories. Each of us has our own accounts: Marina Black 1 and PerkhetSolidStories respectively. Together we are SolidBlack.

The teamwork began sometime around April of 2007 when we began work on The Long Way Home, our first fic together. Since then, we have completed The Long Way Home, The Power of Love, Cheating Heart, Something to Believe In, Friendly Fire, Until Death Do Us Part, and The Mystery of Marriage.

Each story has a personal significance for each of us and (despite some disagreements) we have a great time writing together! James provides us the humor; he also enjoys piña coladas, getting caught in the rain, and evil cliffhangers. Marina is the serious one, the editor and the fluff queen; she happens to like yoga and health food. And we both like champagne a little too much!

All joking aside, we love the work we do and we hope you enjoy it just as much!

Not only will you get a personal e-mail from your favorite authors but a picture is worth a thousand words…and that’s saying a lot, considering how many thousands of words we have put into these fics! Marina has worked very hard on these, and hopes you will take the time to take a peek!

And now, the writing:

X-Men:

The Long Way Home: Completed. True love never dies. Take a look into the lives of two friends, lovers, and soul mates who find that, sometimes, all you need is love...and several glasses of wine. Follow the tale of two very stubborn people and how they finally find their way back home.

This was out first fiction and wow, was it fun to write. Marina has a terrible soft spot for the disparaged heroines in Marvel canon, including Madelyne Pryor and BellaDonna Boudreaux. Short, sweet, and the beginning of our X-men trilogy; both Cheating Heart and Friendly fire are a part of this universe!

Cheating Heart: Completed! Gabriel Summers needs to escape from the horrors of his reality. Laura Kinney has nowhere left to turn and nothing left to lose. In one night they create a passion that defies all odds, consequences beyond measure, and a love that would span a lifetime.

This idea really stemmed from the first time James and Marina met. On a site known as New Beginnings (yes, we were role playing partners before we were writing partners) Marina was playing the lovely Karika Yashida (the AOA counterpart of Laura Kinney) and James was playing the handsome Vulcan. The dream was always to finish that thread…well, we did…sort of. Now we hope it will be a fan favorite here. We sure had a wonderful time writing it.

Friendly Fire: Completed! Responsibility is a heavy burden on Peter Wisdom. Framed for murder and driven from his home, he is thrust into the domain of Kitty Pryde. Kitty has been left to fend for herself after a terrible breakup. Will they find common ground? Or kill one another?

This fic promises to be the longest and most conceptually diverse fic James and Marina have ever written. It has all the elements to please a crowd and it was really a blast writing it. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Harry Potter:

The Power of Love: Completed! There are few things in life that are as strong or pure as love in fact, there's no greater power. Follow two very unlikely lovers through a journey of self discovery and the realization that dreams are not such fleeting companions.

We’ve had this fic finished for a while but it is two hundred pages long and poor Marina has to edit all that! Here’s a little fact about James and Marina: we DO NOT agree on many pairings in the Harry Potter universe. Marina happens to like Hermione/Snape, James gags at the mention of it. Whereas James likes Harry/Hermione which makes Marina feel sick inside. So we’re gagging and arguing our pairings in harmony…and we decided to go with lesser known and developed pairings unless we can agree. Pansy and Gregory was a couple we’ve never seen before and we felt they had common ground to exploit…erm…cough…explore.

Something to Believe In: Completed! Their love was brand new...but nothing stays innocent forever. When Draco and Ginny take in the child of Bellatrix Lestrange, the bonds of their love will be tried and tested. Will they crumble under challenge? Or come out stronger than ever?

The sequel to The Power of Love featuring a couple that makes several appearances in the Power of Love. We alluded to this in Power of Love. It is finished and being edited now. This is our darkest fic so far; it’s going to be a good read.

The Mystery of Marriage: Completed! They woke up far from home, married, pregnant, and with no recollection of the last few months. Harry and Hermione team up in this epic story to determine who is behind their situation. Will they solve the mystery of their marriage? Or fall apart?

This fic does not fit into our POL universe and so we created it outside the events of POL and SBI. This work depicts a relationship between Harry and Hermione (Marina is gagging, she dislikes the pairing). As a team we make sacrifices for each other...so James wrote UDDP with Marina and Marina graciously gave him a fic of his choice. This will be a lovely little work of fluff, mystery, and romance!

Batman:

Until Death Do Us Part: Completed! Mortal enemies by choice, lovers by chance. Selina Kyle reluctantly gave her heart to Bruce Wayne. Bruce gave his back to her without question. When she conceives his child, will love win the day? Or will the past tear them apart?

This is our first (and possibly only) Batman fic. It features the handsome Bruce Wayne and his lovely archnemesis Selina Kyle. We're expecting it to be finished some time in October of 2007 and published shortly thereafter. This will be a shorter fic (not nearly as long as Friendly Fire or Power of Love)...but it's not short on drama or tension!
