![]() Author has written 17 stories for Immortals, Tamora Pierce, Song of the Lioness, Miles Vorkosigan, and Persuasion. Hi there! Not that much to say about me. I'm female and over 18 (definitely over!). I have an 11-year-old who "borrows" my books a lot. I'm an editor for a living (but not fiction) and read a lot (mostly fiction). Tamora Pierce fic: Nocturne is pretty much strict canon, set right after the chapter "Falling" in RotG. Guaranteed 100% plot free! It's cheesy and I'm a bit ashamed of it, but everyone needs a little fluff now and then :) Unprepared and Expectations are both quasi-canon; I may have botched the time lines a bit, and put characters in places where they turned out not to have been once I'd read the Trickster books, but they are not AU by any means. I have no basis in canon for the events in Expectations, but equally no proof that it didn't happen that way ;) On Motherhood and On Beauty are one-shot poems, canon, in which we get (a) a snapshot of what it's like to have a shape-shifting newborn in your life and (b) a glimpse of what goes on in Numair's head (because you know you want to know). Homecoming is a bit of an AU, in which (having, again, not read the Trickster books when I wrote it, but in any case it worked better this way) I take extreme liberties with the ages, genders, and number of Salmalín children. Variations on the Theme of Salmalín is a series of not-necessarily-related, definitely-not-sequential ficlets and drabbles and such, connected only by the fact that they all relate to Daine, Numair, Sarralyn and Rikash in some combination. I've tried to stay in canon, but really there's almost no information about the children in canon, so I made stuff up. Finally finished, topping out at a whopping 64 ficlets (I originally planned to write two dozen). Scientist King and its sequel, Altitude, are longer pieces and very definitely AU -- a modern AU -- but I am told that the characters are reasonably true to canon ;). Scientist King has fluff, but is not fluff-saturated; Altitude is fluffier and more self-indulgent, but with a plot and some humour. If you hate modern DN fics, give these a miss. If you like the idea of a modern DN fic, but haven't had good experiences with them so far, try these -- you might like them! Tortallan MiniFiction is a repository for short pieces written in response to weekly prompts 13 through 63 for the LJ community tammy-underscore-drabbles, in which I attempt to branch out from my D/N obsession to, you know, write other people. Vorkosiverse fic: In Honour Thy Father, Nikolai Vorsoisson comes home on leave from jump-pilot training with some important news for Mama and Miles. My first, impulsive foray into this fandom ... be gentle, please ;) In And Not Abject Enough, Either, I present my (really terrible) take on Miles-writes-poetry -- the draft of his apology to Ekaterin that he describes as "the horrible version in rhyme". Who knew that writing bad poetry would be a useful ficcing skill? The Nature of a Marriage is intended to be a short series of random scenes from the post-ACC lives of Miles and Ekaterin. 3 chapters have happened so far; more will follow as and when I am attacked by plot bunnies (but will be posted on AO3, not here -- see below for link). In Butcher's Boy, Nikolai and his new Komarran roommate at jump-pilot school discuss some uncomfortable bits of family history. Jane Austen fic: Breakfast at Edward's recounts Captain Wentworth's immediate reaction to the news of Louisa's engagement to Captain Benwick. (Persuasion) In A Young Mourner, Captain Wentworth goes to Portsmouth, at Captain Harville's request, to break the bad news to their friend Benwick, and falls prey to bad memories while dealing with the fallout. (Persuasion) Most Disordered Feelings is the scene in Mary's drawing-room in chapter 9, where Captain Wentworth rescues Anne from being used as a jungle-gym by her nephew, from Wentworth's POV. (Persuasion) More recent fic is on AO3 at http:///ne6vmox. I also write original fiction -- I have a fantasy novel coming out in 2014 and am working on the sequel. |
