Hello everyone! Since we're all headed back at school now (see you on the Hogwarts Express in a few days!) I thought it would be nice to have a little competition based on the 12 subjects which are taught at Hogwarts so...here we go!

The Rules:

o you may sign up to as many subjects/challenges as you wish. If you sign up to more than one, you can have them as separate one shots, or in one fic collection – however you want to present them is up to you!

o you may combine any of the challenges with any other challenge on here or elsewhere (so long as it's okay with the other challenge setter), but you may not combine these subject challenges with each other. Basically, if you want to sign up for both Transfiguration and Astronomy, that's fine, but you must write two separate fics, or at least 2 separate chapters of a multi-chapter.

o please read each subject's rules carefully. Whilst I'm generally accepting any pairing, rating, genre or length, there are some subjects that you have to write a canon pairing, non-romance piece or certain era for, for example. If in doubt, ask :)

o it's up to you what characters or pairing you choose for each story, but I can pick for you if you want. (If you go for this option, I'll pretty much just throw characters/pairings at you until we find one that you like, so please let me know if you won't write next-gen, slash, Harry/Hermione or whatever!)

o Because there are so many categories, the prizes will be the same for each category. I'll review each submission, then award 2 extra reviews for 3rd place in each subject; 4 extra reviews for 2nd place and 6 extra reviews for 1st place. Once the results are in, I'll put up a poll in my profile where everyone can vote for the overall winner out of all the 1st place entries; that author will win 10 extra reviews!

The Subjects:

1. Transfiguration:

• write an AU fic.

2. Charms:

• either write something you haven't written before or write about a character doing something new.

• write a long oneshot - minimum of 2k words.

I will sign up for Transfiguration, Charms (I'm going to PM you to make sure my idea counts towards this), Potions, History of Magic, Divination (does this need to be canon or can it follow an EWE plot bunny?), Ancient Runes (ugh, I have no previous plot bunny for this one), Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts (I'm going to PM you to see if something I'm writing qualifies), Muggle Studies, Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures, and Astronomy.

Also, what is the criteria? And is there a minimum word count for all the other ones (besides Potions that you specifically specified)?

Yay, thank you for your enthusiasm! :) For Divination - and any other subject except Arithmancy - you can conform to canon as much or as little as you like. There's also no min/max word limit on any subject (except for Potions).

There's no real criteria for each fic - you can write whatever you want to (though obviously there are some boundaries for each subject, like the 'no romance' ones or whatever). If you want prompts, I can give you them though! And I'll check my PMs now :)

@Ralinde - sure, that's fine! You can definitely do it as a collection and combine with other people's challenges, I just wanted each chapter or fic to be a separate entry because I didn't want the same fic to win more than one subject/category if that makes sense. But a multi-chapter where the first chapter is Transfiguration, the second is Charms etc etc is fine!

Are multi-chaptered fics allowed? And if they are, do they have to be completed by the deadline?

Multi chaps are allowed for every subject except Potions, but yes, they would have to be in by the deadline. However, if anyone wants an extension of a few days nearer the deadline time, that would be fine, just so long as you let me know. I probably wouldn't want to give an extension of more than 1 week though, because of how the judging will work (with the poll and everything).

@ElaborateIllusion: I've decided not to allow prewritten entries simply because the categories are so broad and most people would be able to fit everything they've written into one or more of the categories, and then things would get messy quickly. But I'll still sign you up for both of those subjects if you would like :)
