Alfred F. Jones was comfortable-or at least as comfortable as he could be, considering that it was snowing like crazy outside, with the temperature steadily dropping as the wind picked up. He was bundled up in his electric blanket on the couch, a cup of hot chocolate clasped firmly in one hand and his Xbox controller clasped in the other. His fireplace was lit and giving off lots of heat, though it didn't seem enough to warm the young man.
He jumped, as America's National Anthem started eminating from his phone. digging his hand into the pocket of his sweatpants, pulling out the phone. "Ya-llo?"
"What the bloody hell was that, you git?! When you answer the phone, answer it properly!" Arthur Kirkland shouted into the phone.
Alfred took a big gulp of hot chocolate. "Dude, did you even just hear yourself? I at least said hello, you just like went off on me for no reason-"
"That was NOT for no reason! You are the National representative of the United States of America! You should act as such," Arthur continued to reprimand.
"Iggy, chill out bro! Jeas, did France visit you or something?"
"Don't call me Iggy. And yes, Francis did visit, albeit how non-concensual it was on my part. He came to rant about whatever issues they're protesting about in Paris right now, the git."
"I feel like protesting this weather I've been having," Alfred muttered.
"Oh yes, I've heard about that. It sounds rather dreadful," he said offhandedly. "Anyway, Francis was saying-"
"You can say that again! I had to go outside to get the paper and mail, and I like fell on my face! Then I measured how deep it was-you wouldn't believe it, it's freaking over a foot deep!"
"Crikey, man, what house are you in?!"
"The one in Indiana. I was here because there was this meeting at the Honeywell center with the Fords over this thing...anyway, I'm at that red town house the Peffleys redid or whatever-"
"Alfred, I have no idea who the people are you're talking about. Why didn't you go to your house in Palm Beach, Florida, or something like that?"
"Dude, I tried. Believe me I tried. I went to the Fort Wayne airport to fly out, but all the planes were grounded, so I just decided to come back here, since I could ge free lodging."
"Oh, don't tell me you're getting as cheap as Austria." Arthur sighed. "Well, things aren't all candy and rainbows here, either. It's flooding like crazy-"
"Did you not HEAR ME?! It's snowed OVER A FOOT! I can't even get out of this house!"
"Alfred, you shouldn't be so selfish. Other people have problems too." Arthur cleared his throat. "Anyway, as I was saying, Francis was-"
Alfred jumped, dropping his phone, as a sudden shattering sound sounded outside his house, followed by his house going suddenly dark.
"Alfred? Alfred are you there? You can't just hang up after I listen to your woes, you have to return the favor!" Alfred heard Arthur shouting distantly.
When he came out of his shocked stupor, he yelled, "You have GOT to be kidding me!"
A/N This lil conversation occurred between me and my English friend Trixie earlier. It was horrible. And this weather...I think I'm allergic to winter.
Anyway, please review!
