Tony POV

I was laid on something soft, too soft to be the hallway floor. My leg and shoulder hurt and there was a throbbing near my wrists. Something was covering my mouth and nose, making me feel claustrophobic. I could hear people shouting, the words muffled and coming in short bursts. The fog and darkness kept coming and going letting me grab partial pieces of the conversation. I could hear someone calling my name but I couldn't respond. I tried to move my hand but nothing would respond. I was becoming scared and something started to beep faster before I felt myself being moved, I didn't know where I was going but I could feel myself getting weaker and that scared me. I heard a door squeak and then some more muffled voices. They were trying to tell me something, probably something to do with the warm liquid that was now flowing through my veins. I could feel the darkness pulling me under again before feeling something in my mouth. I started panicking again and the beeping got faster. The voices came and went again before I started to feel something sharp against my skin. By now I was freaked out but I couldn't tell anyone how I felt and once again the beeping got incredibly quicker than it had before. I could feel the darkness pulling me under further than it had ever pulled me before hearing a high pitched ringing.

The next thing I knew I was stood in a large white room, there were a few chairs, a desk and now there were people. I realised that this room was the hospital waiting room and as I looked around, I saw my dad sat on one of the chairs talking to someone who I didn't recognise. I looked around the room, hoping that somewhere my mom was around, but then I felt the throbbing in my shoulder and realised what had happened. My eyes went wide as I suddenly realised that I must be dead. I called out for someone to help me but no one answered me. Tears started to fall down my face as I kept looking around the room. I inched my way closer to dad who seemed very deep in conversation with an older man.

'I'm sure that Tony will be fine.' He said as my dad gave him a weak smile. If only he knew that I was here right now, then he might retract that statement. I tried to place my hand on my dad's shoulder but it seemed like there was a barrier stopping me from touching him. Dad looked at me and smiled, and for a split second I thought that dad could actually see me before I realised that he had nowhere else to look.

'But what happens if he isn't? What if Tony can't fight anymore? What if I lose my little boy as well as my wife?' Dad sighed as tears fell down his face. I sighed and backed up against the wall and slid down it until I was situated on the floor watching the two older men locked in conversation. Tears started to fall down my face as I realised that dad didn't believe I could get through this.

'If I could tell you everything will be okay then I would, but I know that your wife hasn't really left you.' The stranger said as he stared at the coffee cup in his hands. Dad looked bewildered as the stranger lifted up his head again.

'What do you mean Jethro?' Dad asked. So the stranger had a name. Jethro. As I looked closer I could see that he had a jacket with the letters NCIS on them. I didn't know what they meant but I knew that Jethro was here to do with what happened with me and mom. I stared at them both, captivated at what Jethro was on about.

'I lost my wife and daughter not so long ago.' Jethro paused and took a breath before continuing. 'Shannon had just picked Kelly up from school, they were on their way to meet me and we were going to go out for dinner, but they never made it to meet me.' Jethro sighed and started fiddling with the coffee cup.

'What happened?' Dad asked as I stood up and stared around the room again, noticing that it seemed to be getting bigger. The throbbing in my arm and my leg had nearly disappeared, but now it felt like something was on my chest, making it hard to breathe. I shook my head and stared back at dad and Jethro.

'A drunk driver ran a red light and smashed straight into them. They never stood a chance. But deep down I know that they have never left me and are always around, even though I can't see them.' Jethro said as a sad smile appeared on his face. I looked towards a door and saw a young girl stood with her mom. They smiled at me, which meant that they could see me, before the young girl waved and they disappeared. I looked at Jethro and back to where they had been standing and realised that they must have been Jethro's wife and daughter.

'I'm sorry.' Dad said as he looked down at the floor. The room fell eerily silent except for the noise of the clock ticking on the wall. The pain in my chest was getting stronger and I was getting weaker. I couldn't hold on anymore. The room was fading slightly and out of the corner of my eye I caught the silhouette of someone looking straight at me. I stared at the figure and as they came more into view I knew who it was. My mom. I stared at her and smiled slightly as she walked towards me.

'Mom.' I sighed as I looked at her. She didn't look like she had when she had been shot. Tears fell down my face as a recalled the scene. She pulled me into a hug and softly whispered words of comfort into my ear.

'He's right Tony. We never stray far from those we love. We're always here when you need us, but you need to go back and fight.' Mom said as I stared at her. She smiled at me and watched as I looked at dad and Jethro who were locked in conversation once again but I couldn't hear them. I realised that the fog was coming back in again and trying to take me away once again. I grabbed hold of mom and watched as the fog retreated a little bit, hoping that it wouldn't come back. 'Tony, I know you're scared but I need you to go back.' Mom pleaded and I could see the sadness in her eyes as she let go off me. I knew that I had to go back but I didn't want to. The memories would come back and I would never see mom again.

'But dad will understand.' I muttered as I watched mom slowly disappear into the fog. The fog was slowly coming towards me and no matter how hard I tried to escape it, my attempts were futile. I looked at dad and realised that I couldn't leave him all alone. It would kill him. He couldn't lose his wife and his son. I also knew that Jethro was right and that although mom was gone, she wouldn't be far away from us. I slowly closed my eyes and felt myself being lifted away from the waiting room. I tried to open my eyes, to see what was going on but I couldn't. I was vaguely aware of a high pitch beeping noise and muffled voices once again. The beeping eventually settled into a steady rhythm and I internally winced as the pain in my arm and leg returned. I could vaguely hear people hurrying about, metal clanking on metal, something been pushed into the wound in my leg. I could hear them wince when they took the bullet out of my shoulder. The fog came once more and this time I let it take me away, knowing that when I next woke, my dad will be beside me and mom will be nearby, watching and protecting me from afar.

What did you guys think? Let me know. Happy new year.
