Short chapter. This takes place quite some time after the first chapter, but we'll find out more about that in the next couple chapters after this. Reminder that this is AU so quite a few things are different. Just keep that in mind.
"Ha ha," Captain Jones laughed with his trademark smirk plastered on his lips. "I've bested you again brother!"
Davy shook his head in defeat. "I don't know how you do it Killian. How are you this blasted lucky?"
"It has nothing to do with luck, mate. Since you're family, I'll let you in on the secret." He leaned in conspiringly. He fiddled with the two dice in his right hand before pinch them between his fingers and holding them up to show Davy. "Loaded dice," he whispered.
Davey's mouth fell. "How long have you been cheating me like his?"
"It's a rather old trick."
"Buy you've lost to me before!"
Killian smirked. "Well, if a person wins all the time then everyone starts getting suspicious."
Davy shook his head again. "I can't believe you. You devious bastard."
Killian laughed. "So I guess this means you won't be gambling with me anymore?"
"Only when we use my dice."
Killian chuckled again before turning his attention away from the man he considered his brother and begin surveying the tavern they sat in. It was crowded with both men and women in a large variety of ages. Many of the patrons that night were men from his own crew. He and David had decided to spend the night away from them though and were seated at a table in a dark back corner. Killian recognized some of the others in the bar. Many of the dwarves were there. One of which was Grumpy whom he'd had good dealings with in the past. He sat with a young brunette woman and a female oriental warrior. Killian noticed that another of the dwarves, Happy, was sitting drunk off his ass at the bar. He was flirting shamelessly with the dark haired bar maid serving him. Red. Killian had met her when she was just a lass and over the past few days they had become reacquainted. Every day this week the pirate crew had spent their nights here. Killian watched as Red ignored Happy's drunken flirting while she attempted to make her own advances on a stoic man clothed in fur and armor. He was one of the Queen's guard. Killian easily recognized him as her huntsman. The Huntsman seemed oblivious to the beauty trying to catch his attention as he seemed to have eyes only for the blond barmaid serving a table across the room. Killian hadn't seen her before and he felt a thrill rush through him as he studied her from afar.
She was dressed similarly to Red in a simple skirt placed over the petticoats and undergarments of a common village girl. The bodice was startlingly plain as well and covered by a brown corset that tied in the front. The girl's hair tumbled past her shoulders in loose golden curls. Killian couldn't see her eyes from the distance he was from her, but her smile was dazzling and when she laughed she looked like an angel.
"Killian, Killian,"
Captain Jones shook his head and returned his attention back to the other Jones. Davy sat there snapping his fingers in front of his brother's face. "Oh, I'm sorry mate. I blanked out for a bit,"
"I'd say." Davey shot Killian a look. "What's got you so distracted?"
"Nothing. Nothing at all."
