"Do you want to build a snowman?"

That was all; just grabbed a few handfuls of snow and rolled them around to make a head and body, piling them on top of each other before putting stones where he should have eyes and a carrot for his nose. It was fun, lots of fun; and it made her feel happy and proud to see what she and her older sister had done; but why wouldn't Elsa answer? Why did she just tell her to go away? Was it not fun for her?

Anna thought it could just be the timing, maybe her sister was sick or tired or just didn't want to play, so she would wait for the next day; wandering around the castle wondering to herself why it was so dark, so empty and closed off until her parents put her to bed. But it was the same thing the next morning though, Elsa would tell her to go away, leaving the small child bored and on her own.

As the years continued, Anna learnt to play by herself, find ways to keep her mind busy like giving names to all of the people in the paintings - even talking to them sometimes– and skate with her socks in the empty ball room. Sometimes she would run into the odd servant or two and ask them to play, but of course they would say no and rush right back into work, leaving the girl staring at the clocks, counting down the seconds.

She eventually got used to being by herself, but that of course that didn't mean she liked it; she learned to read books or run around the castle or create stories for the people in the paintings, all the while knocking on Elsa's door less and asking "Do you want to build a snow man?".

Whenever winter would roll back around, Anna would watch the snow fall from the window across her sister's bedroom, daydreaming of hills covered in pure, untouched snow as she built and snowman with her sister.

"Do you want to build a snowman?" Anna sang, staring at the flakes of snow that drifted down onto the window, expecting the silence she only heard from the room but was not surprised and saddened when her sister re replied shortly.

"I don't want to build a snowman, Anna"

I just saw Frozen.
