Epilogue

Shinichi, Ran, Sonoko, Shiho and Masumi stood on the school ground wearing their graduation gowns and holding their diplomas. They finally could call themselves the high school graduates. Now, they had a month of a break before they would enter their new stage of life.

"I thought that day would never come." Sonoko let out a big sigh. "I was so nervous."

"What to be nervous about?" Masumi asked cheerfully. "I knew it we're gonna pass. Now, we're gonna have fun at the university."

They all nodded in agreement, smiling.

Everything seemed to be turning out all right. They passed all their exams, and they all had been accepted into the university. Ran had also found out that Amuro wouldn't be sentenced to the capital punishment. He would need to spend specific amount of years in the prison, before he could be released. There was something else that made Ran feeling happy.

"Okay, what's up with you too?" Sonoko asked, looking at Ran and Shinichi.

"What do you mean?" Ran asked. Both Shinichi and she peeked shyly at each other.

"Oh please, did you think I wouldn't notice. You constantly gazing at each other, smiling and blushing when you around each other. Don't tell me that you-"

"Yes, we're together," Ran confirmed Sonoko's thought. "We're dating for two days already."

"Whaat! And you didn't tell us that you and Shinichi-kun back to each other!"

Sonoko's shouts brought attention of other students and their families. Ran noticed Shinichi's parents, her dad, Sonoko's and Masumi's family, and Agasa, who stood near them, looking at them. They all had smiles on their faces. Ran's and Shinichi's cheeks turned red. They had decided to keep their relationship quiet so they could enjoy it in the silence before someone like Sonoko would make it a big deal out of it.

"Congratulation!" Sonoko hugged both Shinichi and Ran to Shinichi's annoyance.

"All right, All right." Shinichi broke away from the hug.

Shiho and Masumi also congratulated them. Their families joined in.

"So, we talked and what would you think about the vacation in America?" Yukiko asked.

"That would be amazing." Ran smiled. The others agreed as well.

For a long time, Ran's heart had been in a dark place, but after all those struggles, Ran's heart was finally at ease.
