Hey!

Im so unbelievably excited for the next episode of the originals. Having seen the sneak peeks, I can honestly say wow. The Elijah one, where that thing happens (don't want to give spoilers) makes me smile and the Rebekah sneak peek makes me think that Claire Holt needs some bloody awards.:)

This chapter is still following the events of the last episode. This will probably be my last Haylijah centred chapter for a while, though this will also have some mention of Klaus and Rebekah.

Set before the next episode, and this will be my last update before the new episode.

Enjoy!

No matter how much she tossed and turned or repositioned herself, she could not sleep. It was hard enough being pregnant and only being able to lie in three different positions, but sleep was made infinitely more difficult when the person in the room next door was still awake. It was also near impossible to sleep due to the fact that both Klaus and Rebekah had been taken by some bat shit crazy witches and were probably being horribly tortured that very moment.

Hayley sat upright and turned on the lamp. Elijah had forced her to try and sleep and he had promised himself to at least go to bed for a few hours. They knew there was no point searching for Rebekah and Klaus at night, so left it until the morning. Elijah seemed very uneasy about the decision but couldn't argue with the logic.

When Hayley jumped out of bed to visit the bathroom, she heard an audible sigh coming from the other side of the wall. She slipped out of her own room and stood outside Elijah's chambers. She waiting a few seconds before knocking.

When she knocked and got no reply, she spoke, or rather whispered. "Elijah? Can I come in?" A vague sound came from the other side of the door and she took that as the signal the enter.

The first thing she saw when she opened the door was the glass of blood on the bedside table. Even though she had seen Klaus and Rebekah drink blood on several occasions, she had never even thought about the fact Elijah consumed it also, and that shocked her a bit.

"Hayley, are you alright?" He said, bringing her out of her daze. She looked to him and saw that he was sat up in the bed, fully clothed in what appeared to be ...pyjamas. Her eyes flicked back towards the glass and he saw what she was looking at.

He breathed out slowly and began to talk, "Being the victim of Celeste's spell earlier has left me drained. I dislike drinking it in front of others, particularly you, please forgive me." He went to remove the glass but Hayley stopped him.

"No, it's fine! I know you obviously drink plasma, you're a vampire. Drink up, I'd rather you drink that than drink me."

He looked at her curiously, before sipping from the glass deliberately slow. Hayley's gaze never broke with his. When he was done, he put the glass back down on the table.

Hayley gave him a bemused look, "How come your eyes didn't change and you didn't go all vamped out?"

Elijah licked the remains of the drink from the inside of his mouth before replying, "Blood, although my life source, does not control me. It's like water, the thing that allows humans to survive, you can pick up a glass of water and slowly sip, appreciate it, but not be controlled by it."

Hayley smiled, "That was..oddly poetic." She stood for a few seconds and her hands wandered to her stomach like they usually did, Elijah saw and motioned for her to sit down, "Please, take a seat, you look tired." She pirched carefully on the edge of his bed.

"Was there a particular reason why you came in here or is it just my unquestionably desirable company?" He asked.

Hayley almost laughed, "Humour suits you, you should try it more often and yes, there was a reason, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't get comfy at all. Then I thought about Rebekah and the werewolf bites and how terribly she must be suffering and then I even thought about Klaus being in pain and I just felt like my head was going to explode!"

Elijah sat and politely listened to what she had to say, his eyes melting into her own. He suddenly blinked and smiled, "I know this seems like a funny question, but do you need to use the bathroom?"

She thought for a moment and remember that she really needed to pee. "Yes. I feel like my fricking bladders going to explode. How the hell did you know that?"

He motioned to her face, "You were doing the facial expression that Rebekah used to do when she was a child and needed to use the bathroom. She was always too scared to go alone at night when it was dark. She would sit with her face like that and I would know and walk her so that she wasn't scared."

Hayley felt her heart breaking just a bit. "You remember that for over a thousand years?"

He nodded silently and motioned towards his en suite bathroom for Hayley to use.

When she returned from emptying her bladder, Elijah was gone and the bedroom door was open. She frowned but sat down on the bed again, this time against a pillow. A few moments later Elijah reappeared with a glass of milk, he pressed it into Hayley's hand.

"Thanks I guess." She said, before taking a sip.

He flopped gracelessly down on the bed again and began to talk, "When Niklaus went to Mystic Falls for a few days, he left me a note. I believe it read, ' Hayley likes to drink milk before she goes to sleep, it calms the child. It must be full fat and cold or else you might as well serve her warm piss'. He imitated Klaus' accent in the last part and made Hayley giggle.

"So the heatless is less heartless than I first imagined." She whispered sarcastically. She finished the milk with a final gulp.

"My brother is damaged but he has moments of good," he paused before continuing, "we will get them back Hayley, I give you my word."

"I know", Hayley replied instantly.,

She trusted him completely and undoubtably. She felt him firm arm wrap around her shoulder and he gently pulled her towards him until her face was resting on his chest. In that moment, the gesture was nothing more than comforting to both of them and Hayley felt for the first time that night she could sleep.

"Hey, could I stay in here with you tonight? I mean, I know that its not really like appropriate but I feel really...safe."

Elijah pulled the covers around her. "Of course. Please try and sleep, I'm not going anywhere, so you won't be alone. Then tomorrow, we will save Niklaus and Rebekah."

"Damn straight." She mumbled sleepily. It was then she realised that Elijah had probably drugged her milk and to be honest, she didn't really care. It meant she would sleep and be rested for the next day...

Mission save Klaus and Rebekah was soon to begin. She drifted off to sleep with a rather pleasant thought involving the mission impossible theme tune.

The End.
