Lo and behold, the next chapter of my most popular story. I am glad I got this one out much quicker than the last. This time I was inspired. Please enjoy.

'Is that Ice in my heart?' The cat of the purest silver stands amongst the silent shadows.

'Is that darkness in my soul?' The cat with ebony spots stands on shards of sharp ice.

'Do I hold courage, or fear in my heart? The mixed breed cat with the pointed ears and dark spots asks from the twisted light.

There was silence all around.

"What is going on here? Who are you?" The mixed breed cat asks his second question. The cat with the Snow Leopard body and the Scottish Lynx ears peers into the icy wasteland of darkness and dire looking ice wastes. Those piercing silver eyes as restless as the land they looked upon.

'Allen!' The Snow Leopard with the ebony spots jumps down from a glistening spire of azure blue ice, 'you should know who we are.' It strides forward on soft pads as silent as a summer breeze.

'For we are…' The silver Lynx emerges from the darkness painting the wasteland '…..you.'

'We are contrasting bodies sharing one soul, creating a being with the power to hold one element of the world and also…' The Lynx spoke with a clear, young voice.

'…bearing the magic of devilry, a forgotten and loathed power.' The Leopard spoke with a morose and deep voice.

'Seeing the shadows once again awoke forgotten memories within your subconscious.' The Lynx was now close to the trembling half breed. Allen's eyes where as wide as the full moon.

"What memories?" Allen can feel the telepathic voices speaking directly into his mind. These creatures, whatever they were, were non-physical energies inhabiting the space inside his mind. Like a bell they ring amongst the voices contained within his head, whispering their secrets and divulging their knowledge.

Allen looked directly at them, seeing them for what they were. Spirits stuck within this strange place. Allen looked upon the frozen wasteland.

It was barren, devoid of all life and cold. Even through Allen's thick pelt he could feel the bite of the ethereal cold. It felt magical, almost like it was a trace of powerful magic.

The land, although still and cheerless was immensely beautiful. Large spires of sky blue ice broke out from the fractured ground and pointed at the sky as if they were magnificent towers. They glistened like a blizzard under a wide blue moon.

Allen looked towards the sky and noticed that there was also a smaller, dark pink moon that glowed just as brightly as the larger blue moon. The two moons looked close together in the sky and where their halos met was a cloud of violet clouds. It resembled a Nebula Allen once saw through a telescope of one of his friends he met in Switzerland.

Allen could see a blanket of stars peppering the dark blue sky. Beneath that sky, the wasteland stretched on as far as the eye could see. It was blowing a steady wind, a wind that crackled with energy. The surges of energy shot about amongst the spires of ice like electric yellow fireflies.

'Focus Allen,' the young demon was jostled from his view of the sights by the dark voice of the leopard. He sounded impatient, like there was much to say before a war was about to proceed. 'Memories you will discover for yourself in due time. Now, listen well for it will be very little you will come back here to speak with us.'

The Lynx carried on for its companion. It was walking across the boundaries of shadow and light now. The voice sounded further away when it stepped into the light. Allen had to wonder what that was about. 'The darkness within your heart is calling to you. Listen to it or fall under the influence of shadows, never to appear as light again.' The lynx sounded excited now. It was a sadistic sort of excitement, like the way a cat plays with the mouse before it swallows it whole.

This cryptic information was confusing Allen to the extreme. He felt like he was listening to one half of a conversation. He was sure there where vital pieces of information he should know about.

The lynx jumped out from the light and the Leopard padded forth from a frozen patch of ground. Ice crystals never being disturbed. They sat before him, watching with strange silver eyes. They were eyes Allen felt comfort looking into.

With the restless looking moonlight beating down from the heavens and mixing with the transparent bodies of the spirit beasts Allen watched as they disappeared right before his amazed eyes.

'Wake up,' they both said before they were completely gone, leaving the young half breed with the silver fur and ebony spots standing alone in the barren wasteland of moonlight and ice.

Allen could feel himself breaking through a barrier of ice and frost before he noted a change in location.

The haunting chill he felt lingered in his system. He shivered not from the cold but from the strange experience he just witnessed.

The shivering partly dislodged pieces of black ice from his partly furred body. The plates of ice made a tinkling sound as they hit the floor.

Allen could hear voices talking to him but he could not register right that moment. The dream he saw, what was it? It felt so real Allen could still feel the crackling wind and the shifting moonlight hitting his furred body.

His ears twitched in agitation, his tail sluggishly hugged his torso. "What happened?" He felt like crying for some reason. He could feel moisture gathering along the rims of his clouded eyes. Like a dam wall the tension in the water broke and they fell down his cheeks. He scrunched his eyes closed, trying to still the surge of emotions that wreaked havoc in his confused heart.

There where so many things he didn't understand. He felt abandoned, left in the dark almost.

"-shi."

'Huh?'

"MOYASHI!"

Allen's eyes widened when he heard that loud and sudden voice. A voice that sounded solid, completely physical and coming from reality.

Allen looked at the source of the shout and saw a beautiful tiger demon looking at him with a scowl on his face.

"Kan-da!" Allen's voice was weak, as if he hadn't seen the light of day for years.

Allen could see Kanda visibly deflate from an angry posture to a relieved one. He let out a pent up breath of air, which he exhaled noisily. His striped tail was swishing behind him in a more relaxed manner than its previous still and erect status. The bristles of fur went down.

"It's me Moyashi. Che, took you long enough to wake up."

"Names not Moyashi!" Allen whispered. Usually he would have sounded indignant but right now he felt too void of energy to allow himself to be so. He reached out weakly to the larger cat, asking silently for comfort. He still felt that lingering haunted feeling. He could not shake it off.

Kanda immediately took the smaller hand in his own larger hand. It was large and soft, but also rigid and strong, 'just like a tiger,' Allen thought. He smiled at the warm contact.

Slowly the chill Allen felt drained away. The longer they stayed like that the better he felt. His vision improved and he could see Kanda much more clearly. Kanda wasn't smiling but he did look relieved. His eyes where calm, Allen could see that even if his mouth didn't give away any emotions.

The eyes where the parts of anybody you had to look out for was what Allen believed. He could tell if someone was sincere, happy, Lying or sad. Right now Kanda looked happy beyond measure.

"What happened?" Allen felt much better after a while and managed to sit up. He noticed the bed he was lying in was actually pretty crappy but he ignored that for the moment.

"Thought you wouldn't know what happened. We were hoping you would tell us but it looks like we will never know." Kanda looked away for a moment, swiping the bangs out of his face in irritation.

Suddenly Allen felt all defensive, "Well excuse me for falling unconscious for god knows how long and waking up in a strange place." He shouted out with a slight whine to his voice.

"Che," Kanda tightened his grip on Allen's hand for a couple of seconds, making the young half breed let out a small yowl of pain.

"We thought you had died. You stopped breathing when I allowed you to walk out from the shadows with the Baka-Usagi. Soon after your whole body encased itself with black ice that was as hard as diamond."

"I did that?" I looked to the floor and saw the chunks of black ice still there, littering the floor like dead and crispy leaves.

"Not only that we couldn't even melt the damn stuff off, even when we arrived at headquarters. Many of our fire demons, even the most experienced couldn't do a thing for you. It was like you were under a spell."

He stilled, listening to the words of the shadow demon. That dream, the spirits. Memories.

"I think I was!" The young demon was grave. It was said barely audible, but the tiger heard.

"You were?" He inquired.

Allen didn't say a thing. It was unclear at the moment. It was something he would have to contemplate later. Right now he was just glad to be safe.

Kanda could tell he want going to answer so he let out another sigh. Before he could say anything though Allen spoke again.

"Kanda, I remember a time I seemed to have forgotten." Allen looked up seeing the long haired man scratching the back of his head as he looked at him, unamused.

"I remember a house settled within a big field." Kanda stopped what he was doing, his eyes widening millimetre by millimetre. He sat down on the edge of the bed and listened on in acute silence.

"I remember the snow, it was falling thick. I was so excited." Allen's ears were flitting everywhere, the memories unsettling him. "I was young, about six or seven I reckon, and I wasn't alone."

Kanda watched on. His heart was beating amongst his ribs like crazy. He could hear the blood surging inside the veins in his head. 'Does he…?' He wondered.

"There was a light, an eerie light. I remember woods, walking through them without really seeing anything. I waded through snow, unfeeling." Allen's thick spotted tail flipped out suddenly, unravelling from his torso in fright. "I was bewitched."

Allen looked at Kanda, seeing him nodding gravely. Kanda could not believe his ears.

"You save me!"

Hope I settled many of you guys in this chapter. Of course if the main character died that would be the end of the story. The plot is sure to thicken, and next, we meet all the others in HQ. So that means hilarity will ensue (well, as much as a dark story like this will allow). )

On a side note, who is glad about the weather warming up. This story was conceived during the winter. I felt christmassy then. I'm sure there will be more warmth between the main couple we all love.
