I know that this is really short, but I just had to post something. I also know that it's kind of all over the place. I promise I haven't forgotten about my beloved SaruMi!

Enjoy :)

"Ugh, I'm never going to get used to this!" Misaki plopped down on the bench and stared at the clouds.

"You're not that bad; don't give up so soon." Fushimi sat next to him, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.

The redhead turned the sword over in his hand. "Can't I just use my bat?"

"I don't think that would go over well with Captain," he replied, amused.

"How am I ever going to learn if you can't even teach me? I mean, you're the head swordsman guy here, right?"

"Well, I wouldn't call myself the best; Captain is certainly better than me." He ruffled the boy's copper locks. He was glad that he finally got rid of the beanie; he loved Misaki's hair.

"This is going to take some time. Nobody expects you to be an expert right away. Some of the guys now in the Special Unit took weeks to master simple moves. Let's just practice for a few more minutes, alright?"

"Fine," Misaki groaned. He stood and held his sword in the starting position Saruhiko showed him. He took a few steps forward and swung at the other boy.

The sound of clanking swords echoed in the courtyard; shuffling feet and heavy breathing rose in volume. Fushimi went on the defense, trying to get Misaki to practice his attacks. He made sure to go easy on the new swordsman, but not so much to hurt the boy's pride. Growing tired of the boring fight, Saruhiko took advantage of Misaki's inexperience and moved forward, pressuring the other to take quick strides backwards.

Misaki suddenly lost his footing and fell to the ground on his back. His sword slid out of his reach. The more experienced male stood over him, smirking, as he put his weapon away. Not liking the smug look on the boy's face, he kicked Saruhiko's shin, causing him to fall forward; he caught himself just above Misaki.

"Playing dirty, hm?"

"I'm just playing to win, monkey."

Fushimi smiled. He quickly scanned the area before bending his head and kissing the boy. Misaki pushed him away and wiped his mouth on his sleeve.

"Stop doing those things in public!"

"Aren't I allowed to kiss my boyfriend every once in a while?"

A light pink grew on Misaki's cheeks. "Boyfriend…?"

"Do you not think of our relationship that way?"

"I do. It's just that…you've never said it out loud."

"You're embarrassed by everything, aren't you?" he teased.

"I am not!" he protested. "Besides, I never said that was embarrassing."

He gently caressed Misaki's cheek with the back of his hand. "Does that mean I can call you my boyfriend whenever I want to?"

"Not while we're around other people!" He sighed when he saw the boy frown. "Look, I don't exactly fit in here. I follow you around all day and occasionally acknowledge the other members. I just don't want to….well, the problem with this…I mean, our relationship isn't a problem, but—"

Fushimi silenced him with his lips. "I understand what you mean. I brought you here because I want you to have the opportunity to associate with other people. I don't like sharing you, but I don't want to keep you locked away from the rest of the world; you wouldn't be happy. I know this isn't the ideal situation…"

"I like it here, honestly. There are rooms just for weapons, your computers are awesome, and the assignments I hear about sound cool…" He smiled. "I'm happy, Saru."

Saruhiko's face relaxed into a soft expression. "As you get better, I'll take you with me on assignments." He noticed Misaki's distant eyes as he nodded his agreement. "I think that's enough for today, ne?"

He nodded with more enthusiasm. "I'm hungry. Can we grab some lunch?"

"The food isn't particularly good here…but I suppose we could find something." He picked himself up and offered a hand to the other boy. He watched him pick up his sword and carefully sheath it.

"Anything is good."

"Let's check the cafeteria."

Misaki nodded and followed him out of the courtyard. They turned down so many hallways that he wondered if they might be lost. A few corridors later, they entered a room with large double doors. The cafeteria seemed more like a café, and was relatively small. Misaki figured there were probably multiple places to eat.

"Tch."

"What is it?"

He followed the younger boy's gaze to a pair of clansman eating at a small table. A boy with hair nearly as bright as Misaki's turned to them. He stood up and excitedly made his way towards them. "You must be Yata-kun! I'm Domyoji Andi. Nice to meet you." He shook the boy's hand. When he looked at Fushimi, his expression changed. "H-hi there, Fushimi-san." He awkwardly gave a small bow and returned to his table.

He turned to the boy next to him. "Why did he act like that when he spoke to you?"

Saruhiko brought the corner of his mouth up. "He's somewhat afraid of his superiors. He's worse with The Captain and Miss Awashima, though."

A clansman with dark brown hair hit Domyoji over the head when he sat down. "Idiot." He stood up and dragged the boy towards the boys.

He smiled slightly. "Don't mind this kid; he's harmless. I'm Akira Hidaka." He also shook the new clansman's hand. "How do you like it here?"

"It's…different, but I like it."

"Is it true that you guys are dating?" Domyoji blurted out. He received another hit to the head.

"Don't ask things like that; it's rude. You've really got to quit gossiping. I swear, you're like a teenage girl sometimes."

The younger boy rubbed his head. "Sorry," he mumbled.

"It's fine…and yeah, we're together." He saw Saruhiko smile out of the corner of his eye.

Domyoji's eyes lit up. "Really? You've been friends for a long time, right? I know it's a lot easier to be with someone when you already know them well."

"We really ought to be going now." Fushimi grabbed the redhead's wrist and started to drag him into the hallway.

Misaki turned around just before they reached the doors. "It was nice meeting you!"

Once they were a fair distance away, the taller male spoke. "Glad that's over…"

"Um, didn't we go in there to eat?"

"There's a restaurant within walking distance of here. We can eat there."

"Are we allowed to leave?"

"Yeah. We just have to sign out first."

He nodded. "As long as I get something in my stomach; I'm dying of starvation over here."

"No way."

"What is it?" Fushimi looked up from putting his vegetables on the other boy's plate.

"They're here."

Saruhiko clenched his jaw. "Who?"

Misaki subtly pointed to a booth across the restaurant. "Mikoto-san and Anna."

"You aren't going to have a reunion with them, are you?"

"No. I just…"

The boy's face sunk. "You miss them; I know. Misaki, I—"

"Yata-kun!" A small girl with long white hair ran up to the redhead and smiled.

"Hey, Anna. What's up?"

"Mikoto and I are…" She trailed off, taking in the former HOMRA member. "Why are you wearing that uniform?"

"I joined Scepter 4."

"Fushimi-kun, why did you take him away?"

"He didn't take me away. I know it's hard to understand, but this was my choice."

The small girl frowned. "That's not what Mikoto says."

Saruhiko balled his fists in his lap. "What does your beloved king say, Anna?"

Just then, the crimson-haired man approached them. He placed his hand on the girl's head. "That's enough." He looked up. "Yata. Fushimi."

"H-hi, Mikoto-san."

He also noticed the uniform. "You've joined Scepter 4."

"Yes; I did." He lowered his head, unable to look the man in the eyes.

Fushimi looked at him sadly. He hated seeing the boy upset; especially since it was his fault. He knew that what he did had good intentions backing it, but that didn't stop him from feeling miserable whenever Misaki thought about—or saw—his former clansmen. He decided to stay silent, not wanting to make things worse for the boy.

Mikoto caught on to the uncomfortable atmosphere. "Well, I hope you're happy there, Yata," he said genuinely. He took Anna's hand and walked away, exiting the building.

Saruhiko immediately sat next to Misaki. He pulled the boy in and nuzzled into his hair. "I'm so sorry. I know how sad you must feel. I hate that I made you do that, but it was necessary. You understand that, right?"

"I know," he whispered. He looked at the younger male through his tears. Saruhiko's chest tightened at the sight. "I've finished eating. Can we go back now?"

"Let's just go to the apartment. I bought that new video game you wanted."

"Won't they get mad at us for leaving?"

"I'd rather just deal with the woman's wrath and go home."

Misaki laughed quietly and sniffed. "Just wait till I kick your ass in that game. You'll wish we hadn't skipped work."

Fushimi smiled, relieved that the boy had quickly recovered. "Bring it on."
