I was sitting on my bed, a cloud hanging over my head. "I hate everything… I just want to go home."
The door suddenly burst open, though I hardly paid attention to it. That is, until he picked me up. Killer threw me over his shoulder and carried me out of the room, ignoring my yells.
"Damn it, Killer! Put me down!"
He dropped me when we reached the deck. There was no one around since we were currently docked at an island and Killer was the one who was guarding the ship. He looked down at me while I glared up at him.
"What the hell is your problem? Why won't you leave me alone?"
"Is that really what you want?" His cold voice easily cut through my own. "Do you want to get off our ship and disappear back into your world? How little do you care about your own nakama, Chris? Tell me how much you don't care."
I could feel the tears pricking my eyes again, but I held them back. "I almost get killed on this ship every day I stay! People try to kidnap me because of all of you!" A tear fell and I angrily wiped it away. "I haven't seen my family in three weeks, Killer! They could think I'm dead!" Tears kept falling, one after another. I covered my face in my hands, the tears soaking into my sleeves. "Damn it, you are my nakama, and I do care. I just don't want to be here!"
He roughly grabbed my arm and pulled it away. "Then why are you so ashamed to be with us?"
I turned away from him. "Because everyone on this ship is a killer except for me. I'm the odd one out: the one who gets captured; the one who'll get killed. None of you would understand."
I tried to push him away with my free arm, but I couldn't do anything against his strength. I never could do anything against anyone else's strength. I was suddenly enveloped in his arms. I was speechless; Killer didn't hug people.
"Which is why you will stand with us. Everyone is capable of protecting you, idiot." All I could feel was his warmth around me. All I could smell was his scent surrounding me. I buried my head further against him. "You're a Kid Pirate now. Kid's not going to leave you behind, and neither am I." He lifted one hand and brushed it through my hair. "You're not going to leave us."
Some of the men were returning. I hadn't noticed the sun was going down. I could hear Kid yelling orders as he came closer. Killer wordlessly stood up and walked back inside with me in his arms. I found myself in his room when I was finally released from his grip. Killer sat down quietly next to me; his words for the day were probably used up. The door slammed open and I flinched as I normally did.
Kid was wearing his usual frown as he stared at me. "Are you better now?" I nodded. "Good. I don't need people thinking my crew is getting weak." He span around and left us in silence once more.
"Kid has his own way of showing he cares," Killer said. "He normally would've told any of the men to suck it up."
I laughed slightly through my tears. "Everyone here is so strange…" I rubbed my eyes. "But I guess that's why I stay."
"I'll hold you to it." I looked over at him, though his mask was facing straight ahead. "We aren't going to let you go now."
I smiled lightly at Killer before giving him a small hug. "At least I'll know I won't be alone."
