Chapter 1

SHATTERED

AN: I'm so sorry for the delay but my computer crashed before I was done typing the third chapter. Plus I've been swamped with homework, finals, and writers block. My friends are evil, I say this because they got me to start reading Homestuck (which is another reason why this is so late). Once again I'm sorry for how long I took in updating this story. I hope you guys can forgive me for how late this is. For some reason I have trouble writing Brook and Franky. Wow I'm rambling, so I'm going to stop talk, er, writing, now and let you enjoy this new and improved version. Also I just want to thank all those who favorited, followed, and reviewed and I hope you guys like it. Enjoy! P.s. this story isn't betaed mistakes are bound to appear.

It was a beautiful day in the New World on the Thousand Sunny. The sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in sight. The Strawhats and their guests' knew that this peaceful day would end once they reached Dressrosa; so they're enjoying it while they can.

Nami was sitting in a lawnchair drawing a map of Punk Hazard and keeping an eye the weather; occasionally checking the logpose to make sure they are on the right course. Robin was reading a book about history while occasionally drinking her coffee. Sanji was in the galley cleaning up after their breakfast. Franky was working on some minor repairs to the Sunny. Brook was playing Bink's Sake on his violin. Zoro was once again sleeping next to the mast.

Law was off to one side observing the crew when he asked himself how he got in this situation in the first place. Caesar started to complained about something and Law was contemplating using his ability to cut off Caesar's head.

Usopp was telling a story to Chopper, Luffy, Kin'emon, and Momonosuke. Suddenly he stopped and looked past where Luffy was sitting.

"Hey! Guys! I think I see an island!" Usopp called out to completing forgetting about his finishing his story.

Nami checked the New World logpose then looked to where Usopp was staring and she saw the vague outline of a island. While Luffy called out that they should definitely stop there which was backed up by Chopper.

"The next island-which is Dressrosa by the way- should still be about seven hours away and besides there shouldn't be an island right there." Nami said confusedly.

While Nami was figuring out why there was an island right in front of them when there shouldn't have been anything there at all. Luffy sat on the figurehead and told them they should definitely stop by that island. Chopper was jumping up and down saying he couldn't wait to explore. While Usopp for once wasn't freaking out and was actually excited to be going to see a new island.

Law had to ruin the moment by saying "No."

"Why not Traffy?" Luffy whined.

"Because, Strawhat, we can't afford to lose any more time than we already have!" Law stated.

"But, it's an adventure!" Luffy argued.

"We aren't going to chase after one of your silly whims!" Law yelled at him.

While the two captains argued, Usopp and Chopper thought that they would rather stop at that unknown island then face the Shichibukai Doflamingo. Do to all the noise that Luffy, and Law were making, Robin looked up from her book, softly smiled at them, and then went back to reading. Franky momentarily paused what he was doing to look at the commotion then shrugged his shoulders and went back to improving the Sunny. For a few seconds Brook stopped playing his violin to chuckle at the sight then went back to playing. Sanji walked out of the galley to see what all the noise was about. Upon seeing what it was he went back inside to work on some snacks to take on the island knowing that Luffy will eventually get his way. Zoro was still sound asleep.

"For the last time Strawhat-ya, we don't have time to stop on that island. We have to be in Dressrosa for the exchange at three!" Law yelled feeling exasperated.

"Nami, how long until we reach that island?" Luffy asked completely ignoring Law's complaints.

"We should be there in about half an hour to an hour at the latest." Nami said as she walked back to her lawn chair.

"Don't you people realize we lost valuable time last night; do to that guy kidnapping Caesar! We don't have any more time to waste!" Law shouted at everyone.

"It will only take us about a hour or two to explore and map the island. By the time we get back we'll still have plenty of time before the exchange is made. Plus, Sanji said he needed to get some more fruit, unless you want to eat bread for lunch." Nami said with an evil glint in her eyes.

"Fine, but no longer." Law sighed in defeat, as he thought 'After this is all over it will be so good to finally be back with my crew again. I don't think I can take this craziness any longer and still be sane.'

"Robin, do you happen to know what island that is?" Nami asked as she sat down.

"No, I do not Nami." Robin replied with a slight frown, "But, I'll look into." she got up, picked up her cup of coffee, and went to the library to find any information she could about that island.

A Half Hour Later

Before finding a place to dock on the island Nami turned to Robin -who had been in the library since they spotted the island- and asked if she found anything about the island.

"No, I have not." Robin replied with a slight frown "There is absolutely no information about that particular island anywhere. It's not even mentioned or even hinted about in any of the books we have."

"Well, at least you tried." Nami sighed. "But, it's odd."

"What's odd, Nami?" Robin asked.

"It's just, I checked some of the maps and charts I bought for this area. And none of them showed any indication of there being an island right here. It's like it just came out of nowhere." Nami explained. "I think I'm just overthinking things though."

Before Robin had a chance to respond, Usopp ran up to the two women saying that he found a place to dock the Sunny. The place turned out to be a round cavern that was hidden from the sight of both the island and the sea. Immediately when the Sunny was docked Luffy jumped over the side and ran up the stone staircase that was slightly hidden at the back of the cave. Nobody noticed he left the ship when Nami started talking.

"Alright here's the plan." Nami began, "We break off into groups of three and explore the island. We meet back here in about an hour. Any questions?"

"Where did Luffy go?" Chopper asked.

Upon hearing that there idiot captain was missing they looked around the cave and spotted him disappearing up a staircase right across from them.

"Luffy! Come back here right now!" Nami yelled after him.

At the same time Usopp sighed "Why does he always run off?"

Seeing as how that didn't work the remaining Strawhats jumped over the side and ran after their idiotic captain. Before leaving the ship Nami grabbed her Sorcery Clima-Tact and hit Zoro over the head with it effectively waking him up. Leading Zoro to groggily wake up and ask what was going on. Nami called back over her shoulder that Luffy ran off again and they were going to get him. He grabbed his swords and followed after her, grumbling something about witches. Sanji ran out of the galley after he grabbed two more packs of cigarettes and used his skywalk to catch Nami before she hit the ground only to get hit by her weapon for his trouble. Usopp grabbed his weapon and bag of ammunition. Chopper grabbed his medical kit. Franky dropped his tools and followed the others. While Brook grabbed his sword and followed him. As Robin was leaving she felt compelled to grab one of her sketchbooks and a small glass jar. Leaving Law, Kin'emon, and Momonosuke to guard the Sunny and Caesar.

As they were running up the stone steps and up to the open air they all felt for some odd reason that they wouldn't be seeing the Sunny for awhile. When they reached the top of the stairs there was a wooden door that looked like it was just placed there recently. Sanji kicked the door open and ran outside, with the rest of the Strawhats following behind him. They were now standing in a clearing surrounded by huge trees. All in all the island seemed to be very peaceful because, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and they could hear a waterfall off in the distance. Zoro and Sanji used their observation haki to try and locate Luffy. As it turned out he was just a little ways ahead of them.

"I found him." Both Zoro and Sanji said at the exact same time. Which caused them to get into a fighting match, that lasted for several seconds until Nami reminded them that they had to find Luffy while hitting them in the head.

"So which way do we need to go?" Robin asked them.

"We need to go straight into the jungle and follow the path Robin-chwan." Sanji said as he twirled around.

"He probably got himself lost by now." Zoro stated as he headed in -amazingly- the right direction.

"You're one to talk." Sanji stated and as he took off after Zoro. "Lets go before we need to find two idiots."

Everyone else just looked at each other and sighed before going after Zoro and Sanji. They walked for a few minutes before they came to a fork in the road, there options are straight, left, or right.

"Which way should we go?" Brook asked.

"I say we go left." Zoro stated.

"Then we definitely want to go right." Sanji countered. "Moss head will just get us lost."

"What did you say, curlycue?" Zoro said while glaring at his rival.

"You heard what I said." Sanji replied. Then they proceeded to fight each other.

"Chopper can you use your nose to figure out what path Luffy took?" Robin asked, while Nami proceeded to beat up Sanji and Zoro again.

"Yeah," Chopper replied sniffing the air. "It looks like Luffy took the straight path."

"So, both of you were wrong." Usopp said and then immediately paled when everyone stared at him. "I said that out loud didn't I."

"Yes, yes, you did." Nami replied as she walked down the path Chopper indicated Sanji following soon after shouting something about protecting her. The rest of the Strawhats followed after them well Usopp grabbed Zoro when he started going the wrong way.

They continued walking through the jungle for about fifteen minutes, before they heard Luffy's voice coming from up ahead. They looked at each other, picked up their pace and burst into a smaller clearing then the one they were originally in. They saw Luffy fighting a guy who looked about the age of 20. He had short black hair with blond highlights, reddish-purple eyes, he was wearing faded blue shorts, a partially ripped black shirt with red swirls that combined to form what looked like a dragon, black boots, he was wielding a sword, and wearing a smug smile like everything was going according to his plan.

The Strawhats watched as Luffy fought this mysterious guy. Luffy landed a punch that knocked the guy's breath out and he dropped his sword. They thought that the fight was over but they were wrong. The guy just started to randomly throw punches at Luffy while he dogged every one. When the guy threw his next punch he overestimated where Luffy was and left himself wide open for Luffy to attack him. Seeing this opening Luffy rushed in. Zoro, Sanji, and Robin saw the guy's smile widen and realized too late that Luffy had fallen into a trap.

"Luffy! Watch out!" Zoro, Sanji, and Robin called trying to warn him.

Before they finished warning him the guy spun around and hit Luffy -who was off to the side and a little behind him- with an open palm.

"Soulshatter." The guy said as he smirked victoriously.

Luffy's eyes went wide and then much to the Strawhats horror seemed to shatter into a million pieces.

"LUFFY!" The Strawhats screamed as they rushed forward toward the guy as Luffy's seemingly devoid of life body flopped to the ground.

The guy apparently was so shocked to find himself being rushed by the rest of the Strawhat crew that he couldn't move. Or it had something to do with his arms being twisted behind his back and several vines holding him in place. In the next second three swords were pointed at him, a foot kicked him in his stomach and he fell to the ground, and a staff was giving off sparks of electricity. Needless to say he was screwed.

All of the Strawhats -excluding Chopper who was looking over Luffy- glared at him and if looks could kill he would be dead about seven times over.

"Chopper how is he?" Zoro asked never taking his eye off of the guy.

The guy just smirked and responded before Chopper could answer "Don't worry, he's still alive….For now that is."

"He's still breathing." Chopper confirmed.

The Strawhats let out a breath of relief that they didn't realize that they were holding at this information.

"But, I have absolutely no idea what's wrong with him!" Chopper cried out in frustration.

"What in the hell did you do to our captain you shitty bastard!" Sanji yelled at him.

Zoro's and Brook's blades pressed into the guy as Robin demanded in a ice cold voice and narrowed her eyes "Who are you? What did you do to Luffy?"

"My name is Cain. As for what I did to Strawhat it's simple, I possess the power of the *Uchikudaku Uchikudaku No Mi. It allows me to shatter anything I want to with a single touch." Cain admitted.

"That still doesn't tell us what we want to know." Zoro growled at him.

"But, the move I just used has a special ability. It allows me and whoever is near me at the time to go into that person's mind after 30 seconds." Cain said with a sumg smile.

"WHAT?! That should be impossible!" Usopp, Chopper, Nami, and Brook exclaimed in horror. While Franky, Zoro, Robin, and Sanji all had varying looks of horror on their faces.

"This is going to be the most fun that I've had in awhile." Cain softly said to himself.

"What was that?" Nami asked Cain with a smile, while giving off a dangerous aura that promised pain if he didn't respond.

"Enjoy." Cain said sadistically.

Then the clearing was filled with a blindingly bright flash of white light that caused all them to pass out.

Here's the timeline that I have established from rereading the beginning chapters of the Dressrosa arc.

7:00am- Law gets a call from Doflamingo and tells him eight hours from now to be at Green Bit at 3:00pm. They then eat breakfast.

**7:30am- Get done with breakfast and relax until Dressrosa appears.

**8:30am- Usopp spots the island

**9:00am- Land on island, Luffy runs off, current time

***10:30am- Leave island

**2:00pm- Land on Dressrosa

2:15pm- 45 minutes until the exchange

3:00- Exchange
