An unnatural stillness surrounded the exorcist's body.

Yet again it happened, after so many times experiencing it his mind finally noticed the absurdity brought about by this mysterious vampiric ability. He couldn't move. No matter how much his mind slowly adapted to the stillness in form of murky awareness that screamed at his body to move and act to avoid bodily harm, to dodge, to parry, to cast a barrier. To do something, anything, yet no matter what his body failed to react to the mind's screams and demands.

He couldn't move.

Again he was forced to watch as his opponent blurred from existence, disappearing in a blur of sparkling gold, and after a few seconds the stillness vanished, in it's place an excruciating amount of pain that radiated from his chest. A loud cracking that reverberated in the air was an obvious cue that his opponent broke a bone or two. Most likely the blue eye'd blond's bones, as he felt a fist smash against his sides and then on his chest, but the worse has yet to come, for the pain in his chest was soon accompanied by a violent impact that originated from his back.

*CRASH*

Dust picked up, dirt and rubble flew about, the taste of iron filled his mouth as he stifled out a scream of pain. All the while the ancient stones that composed the walls of the old castle where the vampire resided collapsed against his back, his body was sent through the wall. Much to the exorcist frustration going through that specific wall meant that he has effectively left the premise of the room located at the top floor of the relatively tall castle.

As if to confirm his thoughts the blue eyed blond felt the embrace of the cold nightly wind which clung onto his frame providing momentary comfort for his painful body slightly dulling his sensations as he began his sharp descent, free falling from no less than one or two hundred feet off the ground.

Naruto released a sigh that sounded more of a grunt as he fell, it was still night time the darkened heavens with those dazzling stars and ever ominous moon in the sky that assailed his vision proved that much. Though in the distant horizon that lied from the side of his eyes, he could spot the early signs of the morning sun coming about, a spark of hope a midst the seemingly endless darkness.

The blond exorcist tilted his head towards the ground, not really minding the fierce wind smashing through his face as he looked down and estimated the time it would take for his body to meet the hard truth that was the earth.

He had about ten or seconds until gravity made him it's unwilling bitch.

His body felt and weighed like lead, ever so agonizingly cold and heavy that it was demanding his mind to give in to it's inhibitions. To allow the ever sweet and alluring embrace of unconsciousness hold him within it's arms once more, bringing him closer to the endless void that comes with the end of life.

Naruto closed his eyes for but a moment as he let his body descend towards its demise. It really was a strange feeling, falling from the sky that is. It was a strange event where he knew full well of the inevitability of death and the fragility of life that came from falling from several hundred feet, but alas it wasn't just falling, that fact encompassed life.

Our fragile and ephemeral lives which from the eyes of beings that exists beyond the perception of mankind, are comparable to those of mayflies, buzzing about, readily awaiting the death which came as a natural counterbalance to life.

That was why as Naruto fell from the top of the castle, down towards the cruel earth that awaited him, he couldn't help but wonder why he was not thinking of his death nor his life at that very moment. After all don't they say ones life flashes before their very eyes as they die?

A small smile appeared on his face.

It maybe because he wasn't thinking of his death, no far from it. The only concept of death that floated within his mind was the death of his enemy. The death of the vampire, the untouchable, unwound-able, insurmountable creature that was so close in besting him and his allies in combat. It had to die, better it die than he and his allies. For he knew it was not his time yet, he wasn't going to die here, falling to his death.

So as he fell the blond exorcist closed his eyes, descending into the realm of absolute concentration, his mind moving a mile a second as everything slowed down. His breathing evened out, as a thought full look marred his features. He couldn't afford to dilly dally, not in a situation like this. At this point on everything was a weapon. In fact he grew up with that idea beaten into him by various instructors.

Everything was a weapon, his mind was a weapon, and perhaps even his strongest weapon.

Indeed it was one of the greatest weapon he had within his vast arsenal, a weapon which was crafted with the help of his mentors and tampered with the experience he gained from all of his battles. Yes, it was just another weapon ready to be used, and like any other weapon he was willing to use it to it's full capabilities.

So as he fell towards his death the exorcist pushed his mind to the limits as he went through all the events that lead to this situation in hopes of finding the answer to his problem, not only for his sake but for the sake of his allies for this mission.

With the thought of survival hanging within his mind, the exorcist kept thinking, never wasting a single second as he hoped to find a way of over coming the impossible. There was only several seconds left before his fall the exorcist only had several goals in mind: to figure out the mystery behind the vampire's unique ability, device a way to counter the ability, find a way back to the fight and deal with his enemy, or die trying.

Truth be told, he didn't feel like dying anytime soon.
