Chapter 29: The Birth of Zilver

It had been a long ten years for the Zeti living on The Lost Hex; especially a certain blue one, but he tried to get through it...for his Dad and especially the love of his life; Zlaze. Right now they were both in the cave and Zlaze was sitting against a cave wall; she was two months and three weeks pregnant. Zonic had his clawed hand on her stomach. For some reason ever since she became pregnant he loved feeling the little kicks of the life inside and it made him...happy.

Zonic smiled. "This is great," he said. "We're going to have a baby."

Zlaze smiled as well. "I know." She rubbed her stomach and looked at him. "I love how you're suddenly so happy now. It's making me happy, especially."

The blue Zeti chuckled. "I'm still feeling depressed and angry, but I'm happy that this is happening."

Zlaze nodded. "Me too." She looked at her stomach as she rubbed it. "Even though we know who our child is...it still feels exciting."

Zonic smiled. "How long until you give birth?"

"I don't know, but I can't wait," she told him as she looked into his emerald eyes.

Zonic hesitated. "We know what will happen to Silver...is there any way we can prevent that from happening? I don't want to lose him."

She looked down as she thought about that. "Maybe. I hope so. We'll just have to deal with it when it gets to that point in time."

The dark blue Zeti nodded and looked down, wondering what would happen to their son. A week passed, and Zonic and Zlaze were in the cave. Zavok was there, and helping her give birth. Zlaze screamed in pain as she clutched her stomach. She didn't know that giving birth was to go through so much amount of pain. Zonic was sitting beside her, holding her hand and comforting her as best as he could. A few minutes later, she gave birth to a baby boy. Zonic smiled and took the newborn Zeti, looking at him.

"Zilver," he said. "His name will be Zilver."

Zlaze and Zavok nodded.

Zlaze looked at the baby and smiled. "It's funny how we're his parents yet he doesn't have either of our colours."

The blue Zeti looked at Zilver; his fur was white. "That is weird," he said. "Why do you think that is?"

Zlaze shrugged her shoulders, tiredly. "I don't know. Maybe someone in one of our families had white fur and it was passed down to him."

Zonic nodded; that was interesting. He looked at Zilver. "Welcome to the world, Zilver. Your mother and I will take care of you."

Zilver giggled and clapped his hands. Zlaze smiled; this was the happiest moment of her life.

Suddenly, the baby Zeti bottom lip trembled and he started to cry. Zonic stared at Zilver and then looked at his wife, wondering he was crying. Zlaze smiled, tiredly, at Zonic, "He's hungry, Zonic."

Zonic nodded. "Let's find him some food," he said.

Zlaze nodded as Zonic handed his wife the baby Zeti. He stopped crying for a few seconds when he saw his Mother and cooed, before going back to crying.

Zonic sighed. "I'll get him some food," he said and walked out of the cave. A few minutes later, he came back with some and handed it to Zilver.

The baby Zeti looked at it as though curious. He sniffed it, before shoving the food in mouth. Zlaze and Zonic stared at the baby Zeti in shock. They chuckled.

"It looks like he loves to eat," Zonic said.

Zlaze nodded and picked Zilver up after he finished eating. Zilver lay his head against his mother's shoulder before closing his eyes and going to sleep. Zonic smiled; this was the happiest moment of his life. Despite the fact that he was still angry and depressed, he loved to see his son and wife. They were happy as well here on Lost Hex, and so was he. They were the new Zeti.
