THE THUNDER GOD AND HIS MAIDEN

SUMARRY: Iris Potter gave up on her life as a witch. She was no longer the Girl-Who-Lived, now she was Dr. Iris Potter, an accomplished astrophysicist who works independently. One day, Jane Foster asked her to take over her project since she could no longer dedicate her time and efforts in it. Accepting her friend's request, Iris Potter did not expect a Thunder God to fall on her truck.

CHAPTER 8: THE STORM SURGE

'What to do? What to do?' Iris thought to herself as she watched the suit-clad men leaving and entering the miniature enclosure that was built in what she supposed was the war hammer, Mjolnir, which Thor was talking about.

"Have you formulated a plan?" Thor impatiently asked Iris from where they were crouching behind some rocks.

"Shut up and let me think Thor." Iris hissed at her companion.

'There are too many of them' Iris looked at the number of men occupying the place 'I could probably hide the two of us from them but that won't make us disappear from the cameras that are surely going to be inside there.'

'It's very likely that Mjolnir is in the center of the facility which means-'

Iris laid her wand in the palm of her hand.

"Point me" Iris casted and watched the position of her wand in regards to the center of the facility.

Once certain of the hammer's location, Iris hid her wand and turned towards Thor.

"Thor, you said your hammer is causing this storm right?" Iris asked Thor

"I am certain; I have used this ability of Mjolnir countless times before."

Iris nodded to herself and started to mutter to herself. Her mind was working fast taking in everything that is happening around them and the knowledge she had about thunderstorms.

Suddenly, thunder rumbled in the sky and Iris took in the flickering lights below them. Her eyes narrowed and waited for another roll of thunder to come around. When it came, the same flickering happened once more.

Iris smirked to herself.

"Gotcha."

Iris flicked her wrist and her wand descended to the palm of her hands.

"You have a plan then?" Thor asked Iris

"More or less."

Iris returned her attention to their objective and narrowed her eyes waiting for the right moment.

'If what I'm thinking is correct then Mjolnir releases a form of wave that disrupts electric equipments. If I could use my magic alongside that wave then that would render their equipments useless and I can hide the two of us away from their sight.'

Iris sat patiently, her fingers tightening on her wand and when thunder began to sound she began her plan.

'NOW!' Iris thought

"Homenum Revelio."

She felt her magic spread around touching every single person around her, revealing their presence to her; at the same time her magic touched all the equipment in its search of human presence.

Her magic alongside Mjolnir's interventions caused all lights to go off and all equipments to shut down.

Proclamations of shock and dismay filled the area and Iris quickly turned to Thor.

"This might feel a little weird but go with it." Iris said as she casted the Disillusionment charm on both herself and Thor.

"Come on, we don't know how long it will take before they can get everything working again." Iris said as she quickly ran towards the enclosure.

"Evanesco" Iris chanted causing the fence to vanish.

Iris turned and conjured a similar fence to replace the one she banished before gesturing for Thor to follow her towards the path that her magic was able to ascertain has fewer people than any other area.

"Don't they see us?" Thor asked Iris as he glanced at the few scattering agents that they were able to bypass without any trouble

"They can but they don't so you better lower your voice and not do anything to attract their attention." Iris hissed lowly to Thor

"Convenient, you are a worthy ally, Iris Potter." Thor said to Iris

Iris just scoffed at Thor but was not able to stop the smug grin to appear on her face.

They managed to enter the inside of the built facility and Iris gestured for Thor to stop.

Thor looked down at Iris in confusion but Iris paid him no mind and let her wand lie flat on the palm of her hand.

"Point me." Iris casted once more

Using her wand as a guide, Iris led Thor towards the center of the facility. They were slow going, with Iris checking their position every once in a while and their constant pauses whenever a large group of men are coming their way.

Then a particularly loud clash of thunder came.

"I guess that means we're near." Iris muttered to Thor

Thor merely smirked at her in response.

They reached the entrance to the center of the facility but they were faced with a small problem. The place was guarded by a heavy-set man and the path was narrow enough that only one person could pass through the passage comfortably.

Thor cracked his knuckles in anticipation of a brawl but Iris placed her hand on Thor's raised fists and lowered them.

"Confundo." Iris casted

The man guarding the entrance shivered before walking a few steps away from the passage he was guarding.

Iris and Thor hurriedly took the opportunity and passed through him.

"That was easier than I expected it to be." Iris exclaimed but Thor was no longer paying attention to her.

Iris followed Thor's line of sight and got her first glimpse of Mjolnir. Her first impression was that it really was a hammer, her second thought was 'this is what all those trouble was about?'.

For something that people are so zealously guarding, the appearance of Mjolnir was quite underwhelming.

"At last," Thor said as he approached Mjolnir.

"Go on, get your hammer so we could leave this place." Iris said to Thor

Thor grasped the handle of Mjolnir and made to lift it from the raised mound of dirt it was stuck in.

Iris watched as Thor's confident smirk turned into confusion then desperation.

It was clear to Iris that Thor was using every ounce of strength he has but even then the hammer won't budge.

"Thor, you can't lift it." Iris said as she approached to get Thor away from the hammer "Let's go now before they manage to get all their equipments working again."

Thor ignored him and continued to wrestle Mjolnir away from its position. The heavy rain that was falling alongside the sounds of thunder caused Thor's feeble hold on Mjolnir to slip, sending him stumbling towards the dirt.

Iris made to help him but before she could Thor let out a scream of despair.

"NO!"

Iris tensed and casted a quick silencing charm on Thor.

"You idiot!" Iris hissed "Now they'll know we're here!"

True to her word she can already hear the approaching footsteps of the man who was guarding the passageway get nearer.

Iris looked at Thor who, in his despair, was slumped and gazed blankly in front of him. His current silenced state does not even seem to be reaching his mind.

"Hell with it." Iris growled

"BOMBARDA MAXIMA!"

The mound of dirt Mjolnir was perched on separated from the ground in one massive explosion causing the then entering agents to be sent back and drop unconscious on the muddy floor.
Using the dirt and mud flung by the explosion as a cover, Iris hurriedly took hold of Thor and Mjolnir before apparating away with a loud crack that was joined by the loud rumbling of thunder above them.

By the time all the equipment were working again, all that was left in the center of the facility was a couple unconscious agents blown away by the explosion and a massive hole where the hammer used to be.

"Can anyone explain to me what happened?"

Phil Coulson stared at the group of highly trained professionals surrounding him.

"Can anyone tell me how and why all of our equipment shut down at the same time? Can anyone enlighten me as to how a massive explosion could have occurred without any of us the wiser? And most importantly can anyone of you tell me where our 0-8-4 is?"

Silence greeted his question and Coulson pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance.

The men and women assembled in front of him were shuffling nervously. All of them aware of the repercussion of what just occurred and the fact that not one of them has a viable explanation as to how the events of the past hours occurred did not help them.

All of them flinched when Agent Coulson sighed heavily.

"Barton, Sitwell; with me." Phil ordered the two senior agents "By the time we get back I want every single piece inside this facility searched, tested, and accounted for. Are we clear?"

He did not wait for a response and walked away with Agents Barton and Sitwell not far behind him. The three of them did not utter a word until they were safely ensconced in a private room.

"You found anything Barton?" Phil asked

"I hate to say this but aside from that big hole in the ground, we've got nothing. All the fences are intact, no one passed through them." Clint answered

"Through them?" Phil clarified

"I'm thinking that whoever intruded the facility planned the sabotage in our tech and either climbed over the fence or is already inside when it happened." Clint offered in explanation

"Definitely inside then, someone would have noticed if a person was climbing through the fence." Phil muttered to himself

"But every agent in here is accounted for." Sitwell said

"That's what bothers me." Phil answered "I know every single one of the agents in here and yet a mole has managed to infiltrate my group."

"Maybe the mole was not the one who intruded in here Coulson. The agents you got here might be good but they are not that good." Clint disagreed "Natasha can do the same thing as what our intruder did with the right information. The mole is more likely serving as an informant instead of an agent."

"But still, a mole is a mole." Phil digressed

"I want every single agent on your team profiled and analyzed Sitwell." Phil continued, his gaze turning towards the other agent in the room

"My team? You think the mole is in my team?" Sitwell asked Coulson disbelievingly

"Only your team have the right knowledge and access to all our techs. If anyone can program them to close simultaneously it would be someone from your department." Phil said with a blank face

Sitwell clenched his jaw but nodded at Phil's request.

"Barton, I want you to see of you can find anything in the facility that would help us identify our unwanted visitor and then make sure no one leaves this place until we find out just whoever it was that helped our intruder get away with the 0-8-4."

"Understood." Clint easily agreed

"Go now before whoever it is we are looking for can cover their tracks."

Sitwell and Barton nodded at Coulson before leaving the room.

Phil sighed and took a seat before grabbing his phone.

"Director Fury?" Phil said once he heard the call connect

"Any progress on our mystery object, Agent Coulson?" Phil heard the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury, say from the other line

"We met some unexpected road blocks along the way." Phil answered without any hesitation

"Define road blocks, Agent Coulson." Phil flinched at the harsh tone in Fury's voice

"The hammer is missing, we suspect mole activity. I already have Barton and Sitwell working on finding out the location of the hammer and the infiltrator." Phil explained

"I must be mistaken Agent Coulson. I did not just hear you tell me that your carefully selected team is infiltrate."

Coulson held in a sigh ad started explaining everything that he knew to his superior. In hi head he can't help but think that something big is about to happen.

With a loud crack Iris and Thor were back to Iris' flat.

"What the hell was that?!" Iris screamed at Thor

Iris glared at the seemingly lifeless form of Thor. His body was hunched and his blue eyes were lacking the determination and light it once had. It was as if a dementor has gone and kissed his soul away.

"Do you know the results of what you just did?!" Iris continued to bellow, Thor's lack of response only adding to her ire.

"Well let me list it to you. First, you almost had us captured! Merlin knows what those guys would have done to us if they got us! And because of your idiocy I had to leave the truck behind! If they didn't know who infiltrated their little science project then they surely will know now! Do you realize the amount of trouble your little stunt would cause to my life! What about Darcy's and Erik's!"

With that thought, Iris' blood run cold and she immediately went to contact her friends.

"Merlin, how could I forget Erik and Darcy?!" Iris whispered to herself as she dialled Erik's number

"Hello, Iris?" Iris was not able to hold the sigh of relief that spread through her at the sound of her friend's voice

"Erik, listen to me, I'll answer any questions you have later but for now I want you to do everything that I say, okay?"

Iris did not wait for Erik to reply to her and instantly listed instructions.

"Get Darcy and yourself out of there, take the RV and drive straight to my flat, don't you dare make any stops or detours. If at any time you think you are being followed, I want you to call me instantly, okay?"

"What is happening here, Iris?" Iris heard Erik ask through the phone "What have you gotten yourself into?"

"I don't know Erik." Iris answered "I really don't know."

Iris heard Erik sigh on the other line before answering.

"Alright, Darcy and I will do as you say but once we meet I want an explanation, okay?"

"Thank you Erik, stay safe."

Iris ended the call and released a deep breath.

Iris turned towards the silent form of Thor and she felt herself at odds as to whether she should pity him or not.

"Look Thor," Iris said as she tried her best to rein her temper in.

It was quick and sudden. She was standing one second and then she was pushed towards the bed in another. She tensed and made to push the large man away but the look in his face made her pause.

For a fleeting moment her mind flashed an image of Draco in her mind. And she could see why.

Thor's face now reminds her of how Draco was every time they shared the same bed. The same heat of frustration in their eyes, the clenched forehead, and the way their entire face shows harshness while their body was tensed in repressed fury.

It looks like Thor's depression with his failure was turned into fury at his inability to do the one thing he was certain would succeed.

And so Iris did what she always did to help Draco back then.

As Thor roughly tore away at her clothes, Iris opened her arms and brought Thor's body closer to hers and allowed him to use her as an outlet for all his emotions.

If there was one thing Iris knew how to do well, it was this. She, above anyone else, knows how to be the perfect tool.

While Thor pressed kisses on the back of Iris' neck as they roughly copulated, Darcy was driving the RV taking all the shortcuts she could take while Erik kept watch at the cars on the road to make sure that no one is tailing them, and a group of men including Agent Barton and Coulson stared blankly at a truck found near their built facility as it was stripped bare by everyone else around them.

In the center of the facility, a hidden Loki stood in repressed fury as he gazed at the massive hole where Mjolnir used to be.

As all of this was going on, Mjolnir remained unmoved in Iris' room still connected to the mound it was stuck into. A symbol appeared on the hammer's surface before vanishing, unnoticed by the two warriors near its vicinity.
