Sorry I've been gone for so long, my friends. I was grounded, and then got back on this wonderfully amazing forum called Camp Demigod; Welcome to Our World, where I've been using my own characters, and then got into another fandom, which will be emphasized here! I HOPE YOU LOVE IT!

Chapter Two: Piper McLean and the Society of the ABC

Piper McLean loves Paris. The buildings, the culture, the history, there was layers of it embedded inside the ground, so deep you'll never absorb it all, even in a lifetime.

Princeton was amazing, and its design program was spectacular, and when they gave the majors the opportunity to go to Paris, Piper didn't hesitate to say yes, no matter how much she missed Jason. (But hey, he'd call every night, and that was a perk.)

The food was quite great, too, so having nice cup of coffee and a crepe was refreshing after a long day of studying and drawing.

Of course, even Piper couldn't have known what was coming.

It was late at night, and the City of Lights was living up to its name, even on a cloudy Tuesday night. After admiring the bridge over the River Seine, the daughter of Aphrodite strolls into a tiny café, old and ragged, but somehow cozy, and she got the feeling that this had a lot of history to it, along with almost everything else in Paris.

She opened the creaky door lightly, and peeked in, her bag buried under her arm, and she looks at the tiny menu, breathing in the sweet aroma of something she couldn't name.

There was only one other party inside the café, quite a few tables nestled into the corner, and a group of mostly young men talking in French (which luckily Piper knew by heart) in a mix of boisterous and soft voices.

One of these men was sitting on one of the tables, his long hair slightly braided, and was strumming a guitar, singing a song gently in a beautiful voice, seeming so intimate that Piper almost didn't want to listen to it, but she caught a few lyrics, "Will you join in our crusade…?"

Another two were leaning over a table, debating loudly and passionately, one with a red tie tied around his head obnoxiously, and the other bald, saying, "Bahorel, I think we both know I'm right… Charles de Gaulle knew what he was do…"

The bald guy was quickly drowned out by a poor looking man, trying desperately to explain something to his friend next to him as he laughed hysterically. "Courf, you know we should use our summer trip to go to Poland… All of us, they're offering it, I can speak Polish for all of us, and the country has the best history of revolutions!"

A lanky guy with glasses seemed to be reading a book, but Piper noticed his eyes were floated above the book, and he was looking bemusedly at a pair of boys across the room as a pale man next to him was checking his tongue in a handheld mirror.

There was a lone two girls, one with chestnut-colored hair and deep blue eyes, and the other with lank blonde hair and dull brown eyes. The brunette looked a little worried, while the blonde seemed to be half-heartedly reassuring her. "Cosette, Marius'll be here soon… He's always been late for ABC meetings, and the biggest worry is if Enjolras will get mad at him or not!" Cosette seemed to calm a little, so the other girl began to jabber in rapid French, and Cosette laughed, so Piper assumed that she was better.

Finally, she found where the boy with the glasses was looking at; there was a tall man with long-ish blonde hair and a red leather jacket glaring at a repulsively ugly man with ragged clothes and a half-empty bottle of wine in his hand, who was simply sighing.

"Enjolras, let me help… I think we both know I believe in the cause-"

The blonde man, most likely Enjolras, scowled even deeper, looking at a piece of paper on the table. "R, put that bottle down, first of all, if you want to lay a finger on our plans… Secondly, I've never seen you do a thing besides drink at one of our meetings… Lastly…." Enjolras trails off, shaking his head frustratedly. "Grantaire, just go sleep it off, or something…"

Piper watched with wide eyes as the drunk looked softly upon Enjolras and said, "If that's what you want, that's what I'll do… But everyone here knows I'm bound to be back here next week." With a sigh, R lifted himself off the chair, sat on the floor against the wall, and promptly fell asleep.

Piper was undeniably confused, almost positive she had a mistranslation with the loud noises in the café, was awakened from her people-watching by a tap on the shoulder.

A tall, thin woman with dark half-moons under her eyes smiled lightly at her. "Welcome to the Musain," the waitress said. "Would you like to take a seat?"

Embarrassedly, Piper nods, and walks to a table somewhat near to these 'ABC' students. The daughter of Aphrodite orders quickly, and takes out her notepad, drawing the interior design of the room, and even doing little sketches of the people in it.

Suddenly, a tall man with straight dark hair barrels in, grinning sheepishly, and heads to the table where the girl Cosette sat, while the blond next to her continued laughing.

Right after him, a wiry eleven or twelve year-old follows him, singing merrily to the tune of a pop song with words of his own.

Piper was slightly shocked that a boy of the age would be with the college students, but after what she'd heard, she couldn't rule anything out. She went back to drawing the room, and went on for a few minutes until she heard the creaking of a chair very near to her.

Her arm went to her bag, where her dagger lay, and her head snaps up, only to see the wiry boy she'd seen enter earlier sitting across from her.

"Bonjour, madame." He grinned at her, looking confusedly at her work. "Jehan does that a lot. It can't be that entertaining, is it?"

Slightly shocked, Piper raises her arm from her bag and responds, smiling back a little. "It is actually. It's my favorite thing to do."

The boy looks unconvinced, but responds just as happily. "The name's Gavroche. But I assume you've heard of me, if you're a new member of the Society of the ABC."

Ah. That's what it's called.

Piper is still slightly confused, but she continues talking to Gavroche. "I'm Piper, but…" She shakes her head. "I haven't ever heard of the ABC."

The waitress delivers her coffee, and Gavroche carries on, slightly reminiscent of the blonde sitting next to Cosette. "You haven't heard of the ABC? Really? It's only the best and greatest group of men trying to rebel against-"

Suddenly, the tall blonde man, Enjolras, appears, wrapping an arm around Gavroche. He smiles slightly. "Sorry about that. I'll let you get back to work."

As Gavroche and Enjolras begin to walk away, she hears the elder mutter, "Gavroche! You know it's Courfeyrac's job to recruit! But, Combeferre's been waiting to…" And soon they were drowned out by the talks of the 'Society of the ABC'.

Piper finished her tea quickly, taking her things up in her arms and walking out briskly after paying the waitress. But, she could have sworn on the Styx, the moment she walked out the café went silent, and Enjolras's confident voice boomed, "It is time for us all to decide who we are…"

It's a given that she returned to the Café Musain the next night.

Yeah, I did a mix of the show and book… BUT ERG I LOVE THEM ALL I may or may not do a follow-up on this… What do you think?
